This question must be answered somewhere but I can't find it: I fall over the edge of the world in Outland and die. When that happens to me I just rez at the angel and take the penalty. I was wondering, if I take my spirt to the edge where I fell off and jump, can I rez at the 'bottom' near my corpse and hearth out or do I just die again? Or could I get myself into a situation where I need a GM? I suppose I could test this by experiment, but it means a lot of trouble and repair. Anybody know?
By the way, I HATE that feature where you can fall off into space. Hope they don't have that in WotLK.

Most likely it wouldn't do you much good, since even if you manage to fall close enough to your corpse to rez, you'd still continue falling and die again without being able to hearth. I'm pretty sure that's how it goes at least, though I've never tried it myself. Probably not worth testing really, I mean, how often do you fall off the edge anyway?

if you're having trouble knowing where the edge is you could try locking your camera angle

Since I couldn't respond to this earlier... All you do is fall the same way you did when you were alive, except with no durability loss. It shows the camera follow you SLIGHTLY, and you end up back at the spirit healer.

yes, if your spirit dies it pops back at the "rez-angel".
And as far as we know, barring bugs, Northrend will not have these edges.

In my experience (I have blundered off the edge many a time) and when I fell ALL THE WAY OFF the edge, my corpse was placed a few yards back from the edge on solid ground, so you don't have to Spirit healer rez.

you might also be intrested to know that if you are a spirit and you go too far into the great sea you will still get fatigued and die again, and pop back to the nearest spirit healer, not the one your corpse is at

I thought they changed this because people were abusing it in order to reach difficult areas easily.

Never knew why they did that... Honestly, if people want to get to a harder area by corpse running, who the hell cares?

Corpse running is perfectly fine.. but imagine dying in Elwynn Forest, and then walking in ghostform (i.e. invincible) all the way to, say, Booty Bay.. ress there and you've reached that place whistling the entire way. That's way too easy, and it makes you skip the harder areas which isn't the idea. So now if you were to ress at Booty Bay, you'd end up back in Elwynn Forest where you died in the first place. Just to make sure that you actually put some effort in reaching those more difficult areas.

I remember when I first started playing I thought I would be clever and walk as a ghost through wetlands on my baby Lock to avoid all those nasty alliance..... I got whiplash from the boomerang back to tirisfal glades

I found that one out by dieing in Deadwind Pass to the L55 vultures (as a L45-50 noob). I winded up at the Kara-graveyard. It thought I'd better spirit-rez, since those vultures will just kill me again.
As I was really on my way to Netherwind Keep in The Blasted Lands I thought i'd be clever and ghost-run to Blasted Lands, find the graveyard and rez there. Off course, I rez at kara. As soon as I peeked one toe out of the GY the L70 Undead roaming around were on me like white on rice. After several attempts I noticed I couldn't get out without getting killed so I equipped my Nifty Stopwatch and corpse-ran my way out alternating between the watch and Dash (Druid).
Only at 75% of the way I realized I should've also taken off my gear to prevent repairs...
