I was just wondering what the difference was between the following 2 AddOns, because to me they both seem to do the same thing, which is they both give information about a certain item when you scroll over it:
- Informant
- Auctioneer
Also, if possible could somebody explain to me what "Auctioneer Advanced" does? I haven't actually used the Auction House yet, but I feel these AddOns may help somehow, although I'm not sure what they even do.
I was reading up on Auc-Advanced trying to understand it better & it says something about "tracking" the Auction House or something like that, in order to keep updated on the prices of items etc. Is this done automatically or do I need to set it to "scan"?
And finally, in the following screenshot you can see it says "24h Deposit", "Bid Exceeds Reserve" and "Vendor Valuation". What do these 3 things mean?

Thanks a lot.

OK Auctioneer is a addon that is used to scan the auction house and the data gathered is used to give the user a better chance of his auctions being bought.
Informant uses the data that Auctioneer gathers and displays it in a items tooltip so you can see what the AH price of that item was on the last AH scan.
For Auctioneer to work properly it is recommended that you scan the AH often to keep the data up-to-date, to do this you must be at the AH and click the Scan button (Classic) or the Arrow Button (Advanced) to scan the AH, scanning time varies depending on how many items are in the AH, server latency and your computers specs.
"24hr Deposit" thats the deposit you pay for putting a item in the AH for 24hrs.
"Bid Exceeds Reserve" price to bid on the item is more gold than you have.
"Vendor Valuation" is the price you can sell that item to a vendor for.
i hope this has cleared things up, any further questions please ask.

That's all great, apart from one thing... You said "Vendor Valuation" is the price I can sell to a vendor for, but in the screenshot it also says "Sell To Vendor" and the price is more than the Vendor Valuation :undecided:

I think the vendor valuation is what the thing would be worth if you could buy it from a vendor based on the stats of similar items.

I also think that the "vendor valuation" doesn't take reputation into account - a higher reputation gives you a discount on buying items and repairing your gear, but also means that vendors pay slightly more for the stuff you want to sell them.
As for the difference between Auctioneer and Auctioneer Advanced, I guess you'll have to try it out to see which one you like better. Personally, I do like some features that the advanced version has (such as a percental display of the asking price to see if it's overpriced or a bargain), but I hated some other things (like the autoscan that I couldn't stop). I love the classic version, but others prefer the advanced one - just see which you like best.

Ppl ppl, Vendor valuation = vendor price TIMES 3
So if some thingamajig was gonna sell for 30 silver Auctioneer will try to sell it for 90 silver. If I recall the factor IS changeable in the settings though.
