Alright im pretty new to WoW and im a bit stuck as im not sure which one to work on out of the two...

Im looking at the long term here (which one ill end up using permanently) basically i just need some advice on which one would be the "overall" better option to go for when it comes to all around playing.

Im a little stuck on what to spend my talent points on so once i discover which kind of weapons ill be using then ill know.

I realize some of you may say "there is no such thing as a better option" or "its all to do with personal preference" however if you could tell me which your personal preferences are and why, that might help me a little more to choose.

wielding two weapons will get you a constant stream of damage, weilding one huge weapon will get you high numbers in one hit.

in soloing i find that i prefer wielding two weapons because it gets me a steady trickle of rage coming in which lets me constantly use skills

Depends on your level. Early on, without hit, 2 handed will deal much more damage.

Using a 2h weapon you will have a 5% miss chance.
Dual-Wielding, base, you will have a 24% miss chance on each hand (Instant special attacks are always 5% chance to miss base).

Until you get some talents or +hit gear, you will see that annoying "miss" flash FAR more often.

i presume you are a warrior? for out and out dps at high lvl with good gear then duel wielding might well give better dps, but my personaly choice of weapon is a big hitting 2h axe. i find i live longer and kill things faster with a 2h weapon, this is prob down to my lack of +hit as getting hit capped for duel wielding is very hard. with a big crit chance of around 40% in raids i like nothing better than watching big numbers flying around my screen.
if you are going to do pvp then go for a big 2h weapon as this will eat up casters so much faster than chiping away with lots of low dam hits

I was an advocate of dual wielding once on the proposition that it increases your one-hand weapon skill which you also need for tanking. And if you're wielding two different one-hands you're actually maintaining TWO weapon skills.

Now, while this is true, things changed when I found a Corpsemaker-2H Axe. Even though my dual wield weapons were rare-quality as well my killing speed shot through the roof with the big-bad Axe. I couldn't deny the obvious improvement in rage generation and how fast the big hits would crush the mobs...

So yeah, if you got a good 2 hander, I advise going with that. Just keep a decent one hand and shield around and when you level take some time out to shape up your skill. Just in case you need to tank something...

I personally try to spend a little time each level getting my skills up in the different types of weapons. I will probably spend 75% of the level using my two hander but I will try to raise my other skills as well.

You never know when you will get that amazing item but your skill is 1.
