Having only played this game for a little over 14 days my 1st char is a Tauren warrior lvl 16. It seems to me that the warrior is at a disadvantage fighting other types. Casters freeze me in place and hit me with ranged attacks or turn me blue with some kinda spell that makes me move at a snails pace while they run and keep at a distance and hit me with ranged attacks. Hunters at my level have pets so you end up fighting basically two foes when you fight them which is a disadvanage. The only enjoyable duels I have had have been with other warriors and I have done very well against them. Last night I beat a lvl 22 tauren warrior which I thought was pretty good. Im thinking of only accepting duels from other warriors as the casters just have too much of an advantage.
Another thing, I have not challenged anyone to duel. All the duels I have fought I was challenged. When I accept the challenge and try to target the opponent it seems the other guy has got a couple blows in before I can target them and start fighting. Why is this?? Last night I spent my entire savings on upgraded chain mail armor. Perhaps this will help. I ran into another tauren warrior that was just above my level and he had MUCH stronger armor. When I asked him where he got it he said all of it came from Ragefire chasm. I guess I need to get a group and hit that place...
Just venting a bit. It would seem to me that a 'Warrior class" should not be the weakest in combat to me?? I think the Blizzard guys screwed the pooch on this one..

No, Warriors are really good in PvP to be honest. Like everything in WoW, you gotta learn the class.
I've found that in BGs, the best warriors always charge (or intercept) their targets. This puts you right in melee range. Then you hamstring and they can't move, then you rip them to shreds.
I think for Warriors, you don't get berserker stance (i think) until 20, which is your primary stance for dishing out the damage. I'd go and prowl around the Warrior forums here. Probably some people there who can help you.
Edit: Actually, there aren't "probably" people who can help, there ARE people who can help you. =)

Lol, no offense but Duels mean absolutely nothing. Enspecially at your level. Later you get intercept, pummel, Mortal strike, etc, etc, etc. Also, I hope you did not buy any vendor gear. Never buy White gear. NEVER. The only gear worth buying is gear from the AH. Otherwise quest rewards and instance drops is the only things better.
The class is much more balanced at 70 (though not perfect, but it really shouldn't be for 1v1) than it is at 16. Keep on playing, but don't worry about 1v1, its not balanced at all for any portion of the game.

I love the idea that you've hit level 16 and are worried about your class. You've got a whole 54 (soon to be 64) levels of experience to get. I didn't appreciate the full range of my chars skills until well into the 50's.
Your the second person this week to have posted on these forums after starting a brand new char and be worried about it from virtually the moment you walk into the world.
There is no "super" class. Every class has some advantages and disadvantages vs other classes. Blizzard work incredibly hard to balance the classes and at the moment they seem to have it pretty much spot on. If there was a class that was very weak you wouldnt see any of them roaming around. On the other hand, if one class was incredibly overpowered you would see many more of them about.
I agree with everything the poster above me said. My added thoughts are just play the char and learn the class. Repost here when you hit 70 (or 80) and let us know how you're doing then.

no.. repost here when you're 30 and tell us how you're doing then!!
as a warrior changes rapidly from 16 to 30. seriously there's so many more things to learn and do, with more added immobilization skills you get, the easier it is to stop those pesky mages from locking you down.
mages get blink and frost nova early on, plus they get this wonderful thing called frostbolt at the very beginning. doesnt do much damage, but is a killer when you're trying to catch up to him. you'll be fine. warriors are hard to battle, at least for me. you'll probably still get pwned by a mage at around level 40, but after that, you should have the upper hand if you get the jump. but im merely talking about pvp, and not duels. i dueled when i was first starting. its fun, kinda. then i realize its almost worthless. at 19, go do WSG. go to a big city, find the battle master for Warsong Gulch, and have at it in Pvp! there's no real penalty for dying there. take about an hour or so. you'll learn to love and hate it at the same time.

All the input is appreciated. Any thoughts on why the other guy is constantly beating me to the punch though? With MOBs I just right click on them and hit my charge button and my guy rushes them and stuns them and starts swinging but in these duels that doesnt seem to work. I have to keep right clicking on them until my guy starts swinging and like I said its usually after they have got a few shots in already..???

Try targeting before you accept the duel. As soon as the duel starts charge then hamstring.

that could be due to lag. check your latency and see if its between 0-200. anything more than that will cause a noticable difference in performance.
additionally... DO NOT CLICK. you're doing yourself a disservice by clicking. use the TAB button to target. especially in a duel, you usually will only target the person in red, and there will be no others that are targetable via tab anyway. tab targetting works a lot better in this case. the other thing you want to do when fighting a mage, especially when they case is to run THROUGH them, turn and attack, run through them again, turn attack. this is because the mage will want to eventually cast a spell, and when casting, can only fire on someone who is in front of them. when you run through them during a cast, you essentially negate their spell. (they will get a message that says "Enemy must be in front of you" or something similar). and watch out for sheeping. mages usually sheep first, then do their pyroblast to start the fight. again, to sheep something, it needs to be in front of them. i play a mage sometimes.

My answer to this is pretty simple, I refuse to duel. Call me grumpy, but there's no way I'm gonna volunteer to get myself slaughtered by every silly dps class looking for amusement. Before every raid, my guild's mages and warlocks try again, and always they get the same answer....decline.

Warriors only really shine in PvP if they have a healer backing them up. Makes a world of difference. Obviously this doesn't help in duels.
Also Warriors are very very gear dependent - If your gear sucks then you will be punching far below your weight.
And at your level you won't have a lot of abilities that you need to be effective in PvP - This is why you are only having any joy against warriors your own level - It's the only level playing field you're going to get for a little while. If I remember right you won't get Beserker stance until much later meaning you don't have intercept or pummel and maybe even execute. (Been a long time since my Warrior was sub 60).
When the duel is in countdown before the start target your opponent and spam charge and just hope you get it in before you're taken into combat. Any opponent worth his/her salt will use an instant attack at the beginning to stop you using charge and so getting into melee range easily. Maybe try and get in melee range before the duel starts?
As others have said Hamstringing your opponent must be a priority for you. Also trying to get behind your opponent can really help. Just remember you can't play it like you would PvE.
As soon as you have Overpower then start challenging Rogues - So much fun to be had there. Ofc they eventually got their own back when I took my SPriest into Battlegrounds.
If I were you I'd reroll Paladin.

in addition to the above comments, i do not believe you really see the impact of your chosen class until your mid-20's due to the many things you can do with your talents. that is really where you will begin to notice how the specializations work.
