First and foremost, I am Brett, it is a pleasure to meet you all and i sincerely hope to get to know you.

That being said, My questions are plenty, my knowledge insatiable and my ability to learn:limitless.

First: What is a recommended server for somebody from southeast Florida playing various times, playing late night and early morning. I want a PVP server so I have the abilityto, even if i don't intend to, pvp. I would like something with some population so that It won't be hours before I see somebody, but not too many people.

Second: Is it hard to play a warlock? I like the hunter class and adore how I am able to solo quite easily so it seemed to me that if i was able to heal myself it would be like a hunter...only magical.. and with a higher survivability and a more situational pet.

Third: Is the Blood Elf a good race?

Fourth: what is the least played Race/Class combo? IE:tauren druid, belf pally

I'll leave it at that for now, Thanks.

2 : it depends on how much effort you spend into playing your char. WoW is not a hard game per se. You can lvl to 70 and hang around in some instances whibout ever looking past the spell description on your ingame tooltip. but if you want to be good at playing your class, there is no limit to how complex it gets.

3 : all races are good. and to prevent the next question, yes, all classes are good too.

4 : anything with female dwarf in it. noone plays female dwarfs.

warlock races, i'd have to say orcs are the least played warlocks horde side. on alliance im not too sure. dwarves cant be warlocks though, so no dwarves. gnomes are close in height. =]

I have a level 70 female dwarf hunter so that statement is false. I also have a level 61 female gnome rogue.

I am a female gamer and I have tried to play male characters and it just feels weird to me. I currently do have a male blood elf but only because he's so purty to look at....

interesting observation about belf males. Most guys think they look totally (hmm, this will probably get killed by the filter, so we'll just call it), the 'G' word.

belf females, that's another matter :-)

ps - yes, I'm male ...

Is this a joke about the female dwarves? Sorry, I am a bit thick. But at least /flirt "I'll have you know I can flatten steel with my thighs." Or so says my dearly beloved almost 70 female dwarf hunter.

Go dwarves! Best. Alliance. Race.

Oyoyoy! I happen to play a female Dwarf, and I like her a lot, thankyouverymuch. And she's a Rogue to boot, which makes her an even rarer sight.

Anyway. As for rare combinations, on my own server I hardly ever see any of the following combination:

Druid: none (because they can only be 1 race on each faction, so they're plentiful)
Hunter: Orc (the rest is mediocre, with BElves, NElves and Dwarfs being best represented)
Mage: none (Trolls aren't as common as the rest, but aren't really rare)
Paladin: Dwarf (way too many BElves, since they're the only Horde race that can be this class)
Priest: Dwarf, Undead
Rogue: Orc, Dwarf (almost every twink Rogue on the ally side is a Gnome, and on the Horde side there's quite a lot of BElves - probably because they look so hot in leather, heheh)
Shaman: Orc (way too many Draenei, since they're the only ally race that can be this class)
Warlock: none (as with the Troll Mages, Orcs aren't common but not really rare)
Warrior: Gnome *snort*, NElf, Troll

I think its not so much that male blood elves look..er..'fruity' its that they have their chests thrown out like they're trying to strut around with an 'im all that' attitude. It just looks stupid.

fortunately when you're playing you don't have to look at the front of him.

Male Belfs ALL remind me of Lucius Malfoy. Do a google images search if you do not know of whom I speak, LOL

The worst thing about playing in the belf starting area is that after about 30 minutes or so, you get so fed up with all their pretentious nonsense ("remember the sunwell" stuff) and that ridiculous gibberish that they speak ("ashalanoray" sp? stuff), that you won't be able to resist the urge to make an alliance char, with the sole purpose of ganking these irritating jerks - and i mean gank them HARD.

I see female dwarf priests from time to time, but I've never raided with a female dwarf rogue or paladin. Not even sure if I've seen any.

(rolling on the floor laughing) I am female. I mainly play females, I have a tauren and a draenei, and one lonely little male belf, who is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the prettiest of my toons. (My first instinct was to name him "Flaming" but I thought that might cause problems. Instead I named him Belaziel, because that felt like a nice stereotypical lock name, and later I realized it shortened into the way too perfect Bela. I love how his little ears droop when he /flirts.)

If you say so dude. I love the Belfs and their lore. I love that fact that they are all snotty and that the females standing animation looks like they really dont want to be there.

I have a 70 Belf Hunter, 67 Belf Mage, 40 Belf Pally and 30 Belf Priest. My only problem with them is I am tired of their starting area from doing it so many times.

As far as the alliance goes, I just cant enjoy them. I dont know why but they are just not fun to me. Maybe I havent grown tired enough of the horde yet.

now that we're listing our list of characters, i might as well list some of mine.

my first 70 was actually a female tauren druid. then male gnome warlock, male dwarf hunter, male human mage. i also have a female NElf priest and male human mage that's in their 50s. on the horde side i have a male and a female BElf priest, both 60, male and female BElf warlocks and a female BElf pally in their mid 40s trying to get to 60 before WotLK. I also have a male troll shaman and a female undead mage. all low levels and ready to level. i dont think i'll make it getting them to 60 before Wrath. but anyway, i also have a dwarf male pally mid 30s and a human warrior mid 20s. i have a bank alt NElf rogue male about level 15 and another bank alt troll hunter male. granted, i havent played my alliance toons in a long long while. i play mostly horde now and 75% of my characters are females. i got used to the male BElf look now. i never actually liked the look of the hordes though except for the female taurens, that look a lot like males, and female orcs. they also look like males.

in any case, i rarely see female dwarves. so if you want a rare combination, female dwarven rogues are pretty rare. troll rogues are rare also. or... you can just play a class and race you actually think is cool to be.

welcome, brett. to reply to your first concern, i am not sure how it is on the US realms but i play on several different EU realms (both factions) in the off-hours (late nights and early mornings). the population on all of them is sparse during those times, so i do not think it matters which realm you play on. there will always be a few people online, but depending on how late you play, you may not see anyone specifically because most people will either be sleeping or doing some other mandatory life function. for me and other socially challenged people, this is a good thing, but for people wishing to frequently engage in PvP and other group activities may find this to be frustrating. other than adjusting your schedule so that you can be in the game at more heavily populated times, i think the only other thing you could do is to log in to the official game forums and ask in the newcomers section there as that serves only your regions players and they could probably help you out a little better.

also, i believe the hardest part of the game is mastering the interface and game mechanics. everything else is just learning how to play the different classes and learning your limits.

good luck.

I play a BE lock on Darkspear, for the most part i really like it. I'm in NE FL and I play at all hours of the day and night, the majority being after midnight. Most of my guildies are Aussie at that time of day and they're all cool peeps.

I really wish I had gone undead or Orc for my lock, BE are very pretencious (sp?) and the voice can get really annoying at times, that along with all the "remember the sunwell" crap. It's taken me weeks to get him to lvl 35 so I'm not about to switch now.

Lock isnt hard to play per se but it is alot of micromanaging your demons and finding the right spell combos for each situation. If you go with a PvP server it wont matter if you "intend" to PvP because it will happen, you will be ganked many times by people who are a much higher lvl than you and all you can really do is suck it up and res. On the other hand the aforementioned ganking will create a bitter hatred for anyone from the other faction and you'll find yourself ganking everyone you see. thats just the way it is on PvP especially when you start getting into areas like STV and Hillsbrad.

it's both annoying and fun at the same time, once you run into some heavy PvP the PVe is going to seem really boring.

Hm, I'm female and out of my total of 11 toons, 4 are male. I really enjoy playing them, but funnily enough my 3 highest ones (ally 70 main, horde 70 main, horde 67) are all female.

However, one of them is going to be special to me - he's going to be sacrificed on the Death Knight altar. ^^

In other words, he will be deleted so that I have room to make a new toon on my server - and since he has such an awesome name for a Death Knight (Winthorpe), I'm not only going to use his place but also his name. /grin

First and foremost, I am Brett, it is a pleasure to meet you all and i sincerely hope to get to know you.
Welcome aboard.

I recommend that if you want the ability to PvP, but don't intend to, play on a PvE server. It's optional on PvE, but you can still do it. On PvP, you always will have your PvP flag up (in any zone that is at least a level 20 zone) and NOTHING stops a level 70 from ganking you and corpse camping you, which sucks. So if you don't intend to PvP, but want the option open, go to a PvE server. My knowledge of servers is fairly skim (limited to one only), so I can't help you there, other then I'd recommend a server that is either on Eastern or Central time (your time, or one hour behind).

Second: Is it hard to play a warlock? I like the hunter class and adore how I am able to solo quite easily so it seemed to me that if i was able to heal myself it would be like a hunter...only magical.. and with a higher survivability and a more situational pet.

Generally yes. Warlocks can be relativley easy to play, but in WoW, ease of play and ability to be good at a class are two entirely different things.

For example, Hunters are a fairly easy class to play and level up as, but the number of "good hunters" (Hunters who can shell out damage like nobody's business, use misdirect properly, use traps properly, and know when and how to feign death) is actually kinda small compared to "bad hunters".

It sounds like you like the idea of Warlocks. Now, I can't tell you what the best class is, but you've narrowed it down pretty well. If you like the idea of a warlock, play it. If you're having trouble playing it, but still like the idea of it, then come back here, go to the Warlock forums and ask questions.

Third: Is the Blood Elf a good race?
They have their uses. Their racial abilities can be useful, but it's the class, not the race that makes the real difference.

Fourth: what is the least played Race/Class combo? IE:tauren druid, belf pally
I really have no idea, sorry.

I'll leave it at that for now, Thanks.
