Grinding out my 1st Char. which is a lvl19 Warrior Tauren. I must say this game is addicting!! I have used skinning and mining as primary professions to make money but was wondering if I should combine say skinning with leather work, or mining with jewel crafting to get more out of my skills. Skinning has been my best money maker and my proficiency is best in that primary skill. Any thoughts on optimizing my skills?? thanks

Well, if you play a warrior, you really don't need leatherworking. The main reason people pick up crafting professions is that they can get useful BoP items for themselves, but with a warrior you likely won't be using many of the leatherworking-crafted items. And leatherworking won't make you much money - at higher levels there'll be some items you can sell, but it will likely never be as profitable as skinning and mining. As a warrior, you might want to pick up blacksmithing, you should be able to get some useful items out of that. I hear it's expensive to level though. And jewelcrafting is nice as well of course - can probably make a bit of money cutting gems at higher levels.

Agreed. In the next patch, LW have a few self-only buffs, but they conflict with enchants. The blacksmithing self-buffs, on the other hand (extra sockets on gear) don't conflict with enchants. Not sure what BoP recipes we'll have in WotLK, but I expect the blacksmithing ones to be more appropriate than the LW ones, assuming they make the armor->AP talent strong enough to make fury warriors want plate over leather.

At 19 continue to make money. Don't even worry about crafting professions until later. Two reasons - 1) it's easy to powerlevel professions when you're at max level and 2) make sure you want to level the warrior enough to warrant crafting things for him/her.
The thing is that you have a couple of large expenses at 30 (first mount) and at 60 (epic land mount). Fund those, put gold in the bank and as you go over 60 think about professions then.

Good replys as usual. Thanks. Oh and I cant wait for my 1st mount!! My guy is a SLOW runner makes traveling tough unless I fly which cost $$.
I might add that thus far my Guild has been very helpful in guiding me via guild chat and in giving me items that have helped me as well. Very pleased with my guild thus far..

QFT. To the best of my knowledge, neither LW nor BS have any advantages to the character themselves (as in, something that you can't just pay someone else to make for you) until late in the pre-BC content. And yes, you never can tell when you'll lose interest in a character. My first toon to hit lvl 40 still hasn't hit 70, despite the fact that I've got six lvl 70s now.

Ah, yeah. Of course, the regular mount will feel slow when you get used to an epic ground mount, and when you get used to epic fliers, if you're riding anything else you'll be checking to make sure you didn't accidentally toggle walk speed.

Yes, a helpful guild is a good thing, for the right definition of helpful. In my opinion, the best thing you can do for a new toon to help them level is to give them 3 or 4 (depending on class) 16 slot bags. Had someone join a guild once that thought he needed enchants on his lvl 10 gear. I gave him bags instead, and by the time he hit lvl 20, he realized that I was right in doing that.
