Your Average WoW Player

Quite often we get people asking what the best class is for this in WoW, or "Is <class> the best for <aspect(s) of WoW>?"
So, I'm going to tell everyone out there what the best class for every main/major aspect of World of Warcraft:

But Your Average WoW Player, all you did was list all of the playable classes in the game!
Yes, yes I did. That's because every class has the potential to be the best at every aspect of the game.
A better question to ask instead of "Which class is best for <insert aspect of WoW here that you favor most>?" is: "Which class(es) do you think is best for me for <insert aspect of WoW here that you favor most>?"
The reason for this is, in WoW, it's the PERSON PLAYING THE GAME not the CLASS that they are playing that makes the difference. Yes, generally mages, rogues and hunters top the damage charts, but I know Fury/Arms or Arms/Fury warriors who can give GOOD Mages, GOOD Rogues and GOOD Hunters a BIG run for their money. At the same time, I've seen Mages, Rogues and Hunters get out damaged by the tanks, and it's not Paladin tanks against undead mobs that are doing more damage. The point of the matter is, it's YOU who determines how crappy or awesome a class is. It's not Blizzard, it's not Chuck Norris, it's not Mr. T and neither is it High Overlord Saurfang. It's YOU. Yes indeed I said it's not Blizzard. There is, and has never been ANY nerf to ANY class SO DRASTIC that players who could already play the class, and play it well, couldn't function or do their thing as a result of the nerf.
About classes and gear:
There's also the gear factor.
There's a saying around WoW and it goes like this:
Purples make good players better and bad players shiny.
Gear is not everything. If you suck at your class, you will suck even in Tier 6 and an Elemental Shaman in Tier 5 who knows what he's doing and does it well could easily give you Austin 3:16 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_3:16#Austin_3:16_and_rise_to_superstardom_.281996.E2.88.921997.29) in damage done (for damage dealers). Yes, there is an extent to where skill can only go so far and gear has to take over, hence gear checks in the various raids.
So what am I trying to get at here? Well, here's what I'm trying to get at:
There is no one best class in WoW through the basic design of the classes as instituted by Blizzard. There just isn't. Yes, some classes on the baseline perform better then others, but it's a whole different story when we add the player factor, which is a very, very, very big factor in WoW.
We here at worldofwar.net have NO PROBLEM with helping out novices. We don't. Most of us here understand this because at one point we were all newbies, and the newbies of today are the experts of tomorrow. We also want you to have fun in the World of Warcraft. We do, so why shouldn't you? So when asking about the best class, don't flat out ask "What's the best class?" Otherwise people will probably just direct you to this thread/post. What you should ask is "What's the best class for me? Here's what I like to do in games like this..." and list what you like or think you'd like to do in the game. That way we can nudge you in the right direction towards the best class in the game for you. After that, it's up to you. You have to experiment and play around with the various classes that you think you might like. Try them out, get a feel for them. A lot of WoW is experience (and I don't mean that as in XP which you need for levels). You need to get hands on with the classes.
I hope this helps, and I hope all you newbies out there enjoy the game!
