Hi guys

I was an addicted Runescape member....unfortunately 2 days ago got my account hacked and lost 150mil runescape gold and cant retrieve account back even if I did put all good info ....so I gave up on the stupid Jagex and his game.

I want to try WOW...do you think I find it better ? Lets say that in runescape I was a level 130 and used to go Godwars dungeon with friends attacking bosses.

This evening I will go and purchase WOW....I noticed though that the shop has another 2 maybe expansion sets....WOW BattleChest and WOW Burning Crusade.....which of these 2 should I buy besides that actual game ?

Thanks to all and hope to enjoy your company in this nice forum and especially in the game :)

buy the battle chest.

and beware of "hackers" here aswell, WoW has quite a few of those. Best bet would be to stay away from fishy sites.

Thanks for the advise...I will buy battlechest which I have read includes the original WOW game.

Is WOW different from Runescape ? Do you think I can get the same addiction as I had with runescape ?

Yes, you only need to purchase the battlechest. It includes the original game and the first expansion. The 2nd expansion will be out next month.

And yes, wave bye bye to RL.

havent tried runescape, so i cannot realy comment on it. But from the quick google search i did, runescape looks realy realy outdated graphic wise. I dont thin ki could pla something like this ^^

but yes, WoW is kind of addictive ^^ in the league of crack, probably.

I'm not positive as I didn't install them both at the same time, but I'd imagine that you have to enter the vanilla WoW CD key first.

Also I dont believe its the number on the box but a key that is in the box or even on the cd. If you have continued issues I would call blizzard support.

And keep your receipt it is possible to get a replacement from the store if you explain the issue to the store. They do their report and you get a functioning key ta da.

the main differences between runescape and wow are the combat, and the general detail. in wow its goodbye cube-headed characters and hello real looking people. wow has a level cap of 70 at the moment but that will increase to 80 in the new expansion. I could write a book on the difference between them but I don't have time so the easiest way to see them is to play wow. also if you query "runescape vs wow" on youtube, you'll find a nice little video showing how much better wow is compared to runescape.

you can get addicted to any mmorpg so watch out. if you feel like you might get addicted then get someone to use the parental controls on your account to limit your playtime. remember that you may for wow on a monthly subscription so getting addicted to it can destroy your money as well as all your free time (not very good at the moment to lose lots of money). having said that, if you have the self control to not get addicted then it will give you hours more fun that runescape ever did.

thanks to all.....I have uninstalled all and am installing WOW DVD1 again without installing the expansion pack....it is still though downloading the patch that is 3.27GiG...hope that than the authentication key works.

As regards paying on a monthly basis is not a problem since I used to pay runescape on a monthly basis. I am 41 yrs of age btw :)

downloading of patches finished...am trying to login but stopping at authentication...seems there is a problem with the servers ? is this common ?

In runescape I loved melee and range....what class will suit me ?

There has been a massive patch before the expansion due 13th of November. Lots of things are very unstable atm. Lots of things have changed and I guess they are "ironing out" the issues.

Melee and range? Hmmm.... Shaman?

Good luck and welcome to the game :)

lots of servers when down after the patch yesterday but it should be all ok now (I'm on EU so I don't know about the others). as for a class, the Hunter seems good for you. ranged fighting with a bow or gun, then close combat fighting with an axe or polearm. you also get a nice pet to fight at your side. shaman isn't a good choice for you as, in the beginning, you do most of your fighting from spells.

I chose Mage ( that is what my son that still plays runescape wanted ) ...why isnt mage not that much popular ?

its highly popular it just doesn't match what you said you wanted heh

I played Runescape for a bit and the thing I hated was having to run around and gather the runes to be able to use magic. For me that really got in the way of gameplay. In WoW you can just get straight into a fight and anything else you want to do is totally your choice.

mage is great for ranged damage but it can't do anything melee. if you want a spell caster that can do ranged and melee then go for a shaman as Odins recommended.

Best thing to do is to read up on the classes and maybe play all/a few of them a bit to get the hang of things.

Mages are great damage dealers..in fact we are the kings of burst damage (fire) and decent when Ice Specced along with our roots and snares. But Mages are glass cannons and cannot withstand much punishment in close range melee without damage shields and other methods of keeping the mob or other player off of you. This is due to Mages being restricted to wearing cloth only.

Even though Mages are weak defense wise... they can be a real terror when played by a skilled player.

Rogue is another good one.... they do melee DPS (Damage Per Second) at close range and specialize in stealth and ambush tactics. In terms of damage, Rogues can rival Mages in terms of DPS output...buy they must get into close range.

Hi guys
What's up?

Sorry to hear that. It happens on every game, and unfortunately, you were the victim. Sorry to hear that!

I want to try WOW...do you think I find it better ? Lets say that in runescape I was a level 130 and used to go Godwars dungeon with friends attacking bosses.
Yes, you will love WoW if you liked Runescape. The only thing you might dislike is the $15 a month fee, but I highly recommend paying to play. You will love this game! It has much more depth than runescape, and I find it more fun. It has more features!

This evening I will go and purchase WOW....I noticed though that the shop has another 2 maybe expansion sets....WOW BattleChest and WOW Burning Crusade.....which of these 2 should I buy besides that actual game
Buy the Battlechest! Do not buy WoW: Burning Crusade. It comes with the expansion pack anyways. The Battlechest is the only thing you need.

Thanks to all and hope to enjoy your company in this nice forum and especially in the game :)
No problem!
