Having only played WOW for a little over a month I have not left the Original relm I selected. I was wondering if there are any negitives or positives to be considered when visiting other relms from time to time?
Other than not having my guild to draw from and not having friends I have made on my Relm to group with it seems like it might be a good thing to do at times.
If the AH's are all different on each relm it seems like this might be a good way of finding better deals on items as well as getting on to play when my relm is full which happens on weekends at times. Also if my relm is having LAG problems because its so full this might be a good time to quest on a less crowded relm.
Your thoughts? Pros / cons??

Upsides: you can leave a crowded server for one without wait times, bad economy to one more sane, gankfest to peace, or from one where your faction is under/over populated to one that fits what you want.
Downsides: you do lose your friends, guild, and $20 unless you get in on one of the free transfers. You also can't transfer a toon more than once every 3 months (or did they change that?)
Or are you talking about having 2 toons on 2 different servers? Then you just lose the time you could use for progression on one while leveling the other.

Wow glad I asked. I have one char. and my kids each have one on our account. So changing relms is regulated? And you cant play in one relm and go back to your original relm and still be in your guild?

Under the Account button on the Official WoW website, there is another button for "Paid Character Transfer". There is a 30-day cooldown period after you transfer a character. Plus, it costs $25 for each character. So, transferring should be done for very specific reasons. You can't just romp around the realms.

You have have characters on every realm. There is no additional cost for that, but if you wish to take an existing character and move it to a different realm then you would need to pay.
If you are just going to create another character then have no fear there is no cost.
People do it all the time. Some folks do it just to have something to do if there normal realm is down and they still want to play.
I have characters on a few different realms. I've transferred a character before to move to a better realm. It's not a bad idea to start a character on a new realm to make sure you like it before actually paying to transfer.

I actually just moved about 6 characters to a new realm. I am on the east coast of the US but was playing on a west coast server. This was the best move I have ever made and was happy to spend the money.
