Ugh, not me. I hate the "race" aspect to it. I'm looking forward to taking it slow, enjoying the new content, and actually enjoying 5-man instances again!
And I wants me one of those nifty blue shields with 7k armor that I've seen!

No way in one day played...that must be from the beta, any proof that its not?

If you look at the blog of the guy that plays the pally, you will notice he got banned.
"World famous World of Warcraft player and record-holder 'Athene' has just powerlevelled the world's first level 79 character, Darus, in World of Warcraft while going for world first level 80 using a mob-tagging method that was confirmed by Blizzard GM Aegeoth to be perfectly legal in the game (as shown in screenshot at the link below). Somehow the team still got illegitimately banned right before hitting level 80 by GM calordion."

I also don't understand the race aspect, I guess everyone gets enjoyment from the game in different ways.
I plan on taking WoTLK slow and enjoying it like I did TBC. I'm excited.

wow, that would really make the game not fun for me. I am with the majority, I want to take some time and enjoy the quests and dungeons. What the hell is Athene going to do while the rest of the player base gets to 80? I just LOL'ed when I saw that. Sleep much?

yea im pretty sure this guy has more characters in which he levels slowly... of course, this is done for the attention (i really wanna refrain from saying "fame") so it doesnt really matter if we think he's getting any enjoyment for the sake of enjoyment, out of doing this.

There he got his 15 min of fame. next!

hehe, only made 79 and all 5 of them suspended, not that sucessful I would say.
For those curious their illegal method (so you dont get banned) was to repeatedly run instances and just before any mob/boss is about to die athene would kick teamates so the mobs would become grey to the rest of the team only athene recieved the kill XP in essence tricking the game into thinking athene was soloing the instances.

Athene is a funny guy and clearly a skilled wower, It's just that most people don't play WoW for fame. He does....interesting.

He cheated! He has NO proof that a GM said it was legal. No proof therefore HE cheated using Mob Tagging!
I hope his account gets suspened for a few days!

Personally what they did falls into the 'too stupid to be really banned for' category. They got no 'real' advantage from it and pretty much nullified any significance of their 'achievement'. There is no honour in being the first to level 80 if you cannot do it without exploiting a loophole.

Still though this guy is getting attention for playing a video game way too much, he's the man.
28 hours was what the french guy needed to reach 60-70
Me..I needed already 7 hrs to get to 71 and thought I was rushing it :)

Anyway, the real first to 80 is (once again) a french player from Drek'thar server.
Apparently, grind-specced warlock + mobs with 30 second respawn timer + out-of-group pocket healer + 27 hours of no sleep = win.

But even this french first on Drek'thar did it using an out of party healer. Unfortunatley the way to be first is to exploit the game.

my reaction to world first lvl 80:
/care
(I thought blizz had removed those world/server first "achievements"? but only a few hours after wotlk went live, I saw a global spam about some player being server first to hit 450 fishing...)

The achievements are still there. However, they no longer grant a visible title.

Well he probably is a douche, what's wrong with calling someone out on it?
The past 3 pages are "/slowclap, /yawn, /nocare", "get a life" etc.
Don't think his is any more far removed from the rest of the bunch.

so much haterade in this thread.
Somebody always has to be the number one and somebody will be one way or another. If you are caught breaking the rules, then that is tough luck for you.
27 hours is just crazy..any which way. Nobody says you MUST quest or even enjoy the game...so your choice...and as we see..nobody talks about the second who did it in 28 hours..or the the third who did it in 30. So who cares if I am the 4 millionth in 14 days....?

On a semi-related note, Nihilum/SK Gaming have completely cleared out all existing 25-man Northrend instances today.

Congratulations to them although hardly unexpected. They have pretty good "resources" to call upon afaik?
And i'm dying to know, which path did you take your Knight Shellar? I went Unholy on my horde elf and im really enjoying that as a leveling spec. Pretty good in the bg's too.
They removed the word "downtime" when they introduced these guys ;)

itried to go for a fast lvling speed but gave up early on when i noticed how fast some guys where actualy going at. a warrior hit 80 on sat afternoon on my server and 3 or 4 hours later retru pala in my guild. my guid mate was a bt upset as he had a few hours sleep at night where as the warrior only had the game switched off for 6 hours from wed night till sat afternoon. id much rather the sleep than the lvl :)

I don't really care that people level faster than me just like I don't care that people will always have better equipment than me, will have more time to grind the game and are better players.
I just like playing with friends and enjoying exploring the game, like most people here. Leave the server first and world first achievements to the inflated egos

I can see how some people would consider a server-first or a world-first to be an accomplishment.
I still see this as a game...
