Wintrow

I'll be transferring from Aggramar EU to Hellscream EU soon. Reason is that my brother, my brother-in-law and a couple of friends have moved there a while ago (like, nearly 2 years ago). I stayed behind because my wife didn't want to move and well... I wasn't about to leave her behind .

Skip to today and my wife has suspended her account because she's doing nightschool for a couple of years. So I thought, with WotLK out we can all get a fresh start at playing together and I'll be transferring to Hellscream soon.

Now, what do I see? There already IS a Wintrow on Hellscream EU. A L20 undead rogue who hasn't logged in for ages! (His armory page doesn't exist!)

So with virtually no chance of being able to even ATTEMPT to persuade the UD rogue of deleting a possibly very lowlevel alt (it sure ain't a BG-twink) I guess I'll be picking out a new name (unless anyone of you knows who it is and can help me out). I've been going under Wintrow since mid-2004 so it's hard for me to picture another name going with him. He IS Wintrow and the name Wintrow is irrevocably connected to "NE Druid". So this will be hard for me.

Anyone has some ideas?
Usually I just look around me and pick a random word that sounds right. I made a DK named Geha because I had an empty ink-cardridge lying in front of me of that brand. My wife made Campina (a milk brand), Ventolin (a type of child medication), the list goes on.

I'm not asking my brother, he'd name it vincentd (look all the variants of "vjeetn" + class-initial).
I'm not asking my brother-in-law, he'd name it droodywoody (i reference huntiewuntie, shamywamy, palywaly, ...).

So, my "ideas litarelly from the desk of Wintrow" are:
- Lenormand (a brand of tarot-cards my wife uses)
- Heron (same)
- Nellet (dutch word Tellen upside down on my sons toy)
- Junifen (another child medication)
- martshake (Smartshake with the S not properly being printed on a page lying around here)
- Widmer (Louis Widmer is a brand of cosmetics of which there is a sample on the desk)... kinda liking this one. It reminds me of ... "Wintrow's twin brother/distant cousin".

so? what say you?

Why not something like Wintrows or another very close variation? I'd stay away from actual brand names personally, though I agree that Widmer has a similar feel to Wintrow.

One thing about the rogue - is he in a guild? If so, ask someone in the guild (via level 1 alt) about it.

Good idea, didn't think of that... But sadly he's not in a guild. Here's his "Not found" armory-link (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Hellscream&n=Wintrow) (that is: the armory shows he exists, but no gear-details).

I'll make up my mind tomorrow or thursday. Letting this thread gather some replies first...

Wimtrow?

Wintro?

Widmer is good if you want that as you said.

Another variation but based on the same sound is ideal. My main is Ararria and my DK Belf is Asarria. I guess when she died she figured that 2 r's are enough :P

EDIT: you are just wrong elsegundo :)

I'll definately shy away from the elsegundo-type (hey, he has a type now!) names as well. It's Wintrow or not Wintrow. Not some script-kiddy variation like XwintrowX, Wintrowtwo, realwintrow, w1ntr0w (I know numbers are not accepted), and so on. Widmer is, like Jschild said, close enough without going cheesy.

I AM still open for a really good "gentle friend of nature" name that just fits my druid to a T though.

Thank god (should I say "Thank Elune"??) my upcoming version of BeneCast doesn't include my charname anymore .

I wish you luck boss. Every single character I have except my pally and deathknight are all "Dak" variations.

Dakiter, Dakion, Dakiz, Dakiq, Dakel, Dakue, Dakowl, Dakbar, Daktanon, Dakahr, Daklothi.

I only throw these out there in case you see someting you like (I am never gonna play on a UE server) and for you to see what you can do. Maybe keep the "Win" and make the change after that.

It IS fun to have ppl refer to you as "Win". Like: "Win is maintank", "Win, motw plz?". Must be very motivational to have "Win" in your group .

Ya gotta give El props for trying. Keep swinging for the piñata boy, ya might hit it one day.

lol all my characters names came to be really wierdly.

Corga came to be from the random name generator. When i switched realms it was stolen from me /cry

When i first started taking japanese classes, we learned the numbers and it took me a long time to learn them. Itchni came from 1,2 in japanese. My other characters names are sanchi, and gorock. (sure its yon, but chi sounds much better. And its usually pronounced rock even though its spelled roku)

My other names come from me staring around the room. Chair was a common name for my EQ chars.

erhhh i named my char after a Dota (WC3) SK Gaming LEGEND - Akke

thought it fitted the whole Tauren Druid thing as well - i suggest go for a cool sounding northern european name haha... or maybe an uber cheesy name ("Dreamspirit" >.<) hehe

That's what I was going to suggest. I'm pretty sure it's a clever way of getting around duplicate names.

Dammit TPMdm! Where were you this afternoon !! I could've gone with that one, now I'll have to shell out another 8€ to change my name to ... whatever abomination you just typed.

I DO plan to get invited to groups and such y'know...

Lol.... I only did that because I HATE those types of names, especially when you find a good player in a PUG but didn't add them right away. I'm glad you went with something more sensible
