Got it in the mail. When I click on it I get a "you already know baby blizzard bear" or something like that. Okay, I'm clueless, but with the clutter and complexity of WoW web pages I can't seem to find out what that's all about. Help?

It's the WoW 4th Anniversary gift pet.

Catch is that it's account bound and not souldbound like most pets are after you click. So you can learn it and send it to another (or future created) toon on your account that was not logged in during WoW's 4th Anniversary.

1. read the letter that came with it
2. press c
3. go to pets tab
4. select pet
5. click summon
6. mail to alt

Not so hard

The rest of the answer to your question....
Since the last patch, they fixed it so vanity pets and mounts no longer take up bag space. The first time you click on a pet (or mount) in your inventory, it gets added to a PETS (or MOUNTS) tab on your character page. Once they are added, you will get the "already know etc." message and you can dispose of them from your bag. To call up your pet you can select it from the tab.
And as Gorny said, these are account bound so you can save it and mail it to future alts. (or any alts you forgot to log in yesterday)

I logged in most of my toons for that ..so I need someone to follow the little bears around and clean up....

Now if they would just open up a Pet Boutique so you could take your little white bear in and dye him/her a different color, or maybe get it a mohawk...

it's Bind to Account.

it's Bind to Account.
Yes, but I don't think you can mail from Horde to Alliance or from server to server.

Let me know how that works out....

 If you're going to try sarcasm you might want to actually be right.

It's Bind to ACCOUNT. You will get one in the mail if you've logged in on any toon on that account - it's like the CE pet. For example, I just created a Horde toon on my account and it has the pet in mail. This is NOT like a item you get with one of the TCG codes or the Blizzcon items which need to be emailed from one toon to another. IN fact, I logged into my Horde toons on another realm and... yes, the pet's there.

Now, if his Horde toons are an a different account, yeah he's screwed. But aside from that, all toons will have it.

Without any intended sarcasm, I too am interested to see how it works out. With the introduction of Bound to Account items, such as heirlooms, it'll be good to know if I can mail it to a lowbie of the other faction as well, or that I'm still facing the barrier between Alliance and Horde. It's already enough of a pain to send stacks of Northrend herbs from my ally herbalist to my hordie scribe, or cut gems from my hordie jc to my ally toons.. would be nice if I didn't have the same hassle with BtA items. :)

The problem with BoA items is that they're not all the same. For example the Murloc Costume I got from Blizzcon 2007 is listed as BoA, but there's only the one. My other toons don't get it, though I can mail it to any of them. The little bear pet from yesterday and the CE pet I get whenever I create a new toon. Made my DK, got the Whelp from the TBC Collector's Edition in the mail and the bear.

The difference *seems* to be that items given as rewards or gifts from an event are singular, others are given to each toon on the account regardless of server or faction.

So, while I get what Kodonn was saying about cross-faction mail, it doesn't apply in this case.

Well, if you were as quick to read the entire thread as opposed to just being quick to try and discredit someone...:flowers:...you would probably have understood that my cross-faction mailing comment was directed at the fact that they forgot to log in alliance characters (and in no way was intended as sarcasm). Although EVERY character (regardless of faction) on the account can get the BOA pet, there was also preliminary info on their forum that said the pet would NOT stay in the mail for more than one day. Thus, having forgot to log in a character would mean that you could only get the pet by mailing it from a toon you had logged in (as was suggested earlier in the thread). It's all moot now as it seems Blizzard changed that and you still CAN get the pet even if you did not log in on the anniversary day.

However, you still CANNOT send mail from one faction to the other. <insert the stick out tongue smiley here>

i waited an extra day to do this, but i've logged on to several of my alliance characters and got the pet. so i guess as long as you log in once on any character that day, all of your characters will get the pet, even ones created (yes i created one last night) after the anniversary date.

I hadn't played since Thurs, and when I logged in last night, I had the pet.

I have one character with several of these bears. For kicks I emailed them from my other chars.
