hey ive downloaded combat text but it doesnt seem to work...not sure why. Im just wondering is there a different combat text i can download thats also very good? Also could you please recommend some other good addons

SCT (Scrolling Combat Text) and Mik's seem to the be faves. There's builtin text too.

if it's not showing up at all make sure the addon is seen (at the character selection screen click the Addon's button in the lower left). If it's listed as Out of date you can get a more recent version or check Load out of date. If it's not listed there, it's not installed correctly. Make sure the addon folder is in /interface/addons. Sometimes people put the addon folder inside another folder when compressing and posting it.

From there it's a matter of setting options that fit what you want. The builtin options are in Interface (hit Escape, click the Interface button) and each addon has its own optons... check the docs for the addon.

have u tried the ingame floating combat text?

Yeh i tried the ingame text but i really like the other types of combat text :P ill give SCT and miks a go. Thanks

SCT used to p*ss me off with spam in the middle of the screen when i was healed or did a DOT.
I find Miks is better as it arcs round your character so you can see whats going on. plus if it gets too spammy it throttles the text.
It also tells you when cooldowns have finished and a spell is ready.

Note that, in both, you can set thresholds for what appear so that tiny dots don't get displayed. Can be useful depending on class. My spriest gets healing from some passive stuff... I don't need to see t hat I'm being healed for 74 each tick....
