I was reading the notes for the upcoming patch and wondering when stated

"Players may now create death knights on any realm once they reach level 55. "

It clearly states you may make a death knight on any realm once you have a toon 55+- BUT what it doesn't specify is if this means you can have more than one Death Knight without Toon Transfer?

Doubt it would let you. Same way that it wouldn't let you transfer say, an Alliance toon to a PVP server where you already have Horde toons.

I'm pretty sure that you can only have a Death Knight on a realm in which you actually already have a lvl 55+ character. I think having that character on, say, Hellfire realm, does not allow you to go into another realm and create one there.

Well, I was wrong in what I said above. I just tested it by logging on, going to another realm, and creating a Death Knight. No problem at all, despite the fact that the only realm on which I have a character above lvl 55 is not that one. My apologies.

In the current patch notes, it say you will be able to create a death knight on any realm once you have a 55+ character. It doesn't list any other restrictions.

I tried that last night - to try out a 55 alliance DK - and it didn't work for me.

This goes back to how the originally talked about DKs.. that you could create one of either faction on any realm as long as you had a 55 somewhere. They limited this at launch to just the realm where you had a 55, presumably for account server reasons. Apparently they've resolved whatever issues they were having and you can now (in 3.08) create a DK anywhere.

I just tried creating a DK on realm where I don't have a 55 and it does not work.

Nope, it doesn't work. What I didn't do earlier was to then try to enter that character's world. Just went to Lightbringer realm, created a Dwarf DK and all seemed to work, but when I entered that world, what turned up was a Dwarf Warrior! No message about not being able to create one (which is what fooled me first time round) - just a little swap of character when I tried to play it. :grin:

Yep. Mollymog had mentioned that it seemed to work for him/her, so I tried it just to clarify. Our posts crossed so it's a little redundant

A couple of guildies said it will be delayed now until after Christmas, maybe even New Year's. Does anyone know if this is true?

Nope. Blizzard never announces when a patch will drop, so no one knows. Like all of us your guildies are just speculating.

But I would not be surprised to see it delayed until next year since I'm sure that the last thing people at Blizzard want is so screw up the servers, see new player who get WoW for Christmas hit that... and work overtime to fix it. Also, I'm sure that they will let people take vacation, etc to travel and see family, which means that they'll have fewer staff around. The smart thing would be do delay it... there's no pressing reason to ship it and plenty of good reasons not to.
