In a word, yes. Every upgrade comes with patching.

Can you tell me how big the downloads are?

Pretty big.
Downloading the patches starting at BC is less then starting at vanilla WoW, but you still have a lot to download.
You could probably get an idea by looking at a mirror site.

I dunno the name of any mirror sites, or the patch names for BC so...

filefront and fileplanet are two good mirror sites. You will have to download every patch from the first one released for BC (2.1.0) to the current patch (3.0.3). BC will start at like 2.0.1 or something like that. Most mirror sites will have a cumulative package, covering all patches released up to and including the current one.
For example, for you who has the Burning Crusade installed, you an go here:
http://www.fileplanet.com/195711/190000/fileinfo/World-of-Warcraft-TBC-Patch-v3.0.3-MegaPack-
And get all the necessary patches to get started.
When you installed the BC over your vanilla WoW, I'm pretty sure you'll have to re-upgrade and re-download the patches. You can do it through the rather slow Blizzard Downloader or this.
And truth be told, if you don't know the name of something, GOOGLE IT! I'm sure you'll get several reliable sites in the first items if you Google "World of Warcraft patch mirror sites".
