patch question

hey guys. when the 3.0.8 patch released yesterday all hell broke loose. the downloader repeated download of the patch over and over and over. long story short blizz said uninstall wow and reinstall. i was wondering if there was a way to patch up to 3.0.8 from wow original without going through a dozen patch downloads

copy and paste everything that says "PATCH" (there should be two files per patch) in your original wow folder. reinstall wow in another directory and drop all those patches into the new wow folder before you even think of logging in.
after you've copied everything that says "patch" over to the new folder, open wow with the new folder, it will install all old patches, but at least you dont have to download any of them.
