Has anyone ever gotten a useful piece of equipment out of the guild bank?

Is anyon'e guild bank NOT cluttered up with a bunch of junk that no one touches?

How do you decide what to keep?

I have gotten good stuff out of the bank, and my husband's guild holds to stuff to give away as prizes for guild events.

We don't really have that much useless stuff in our guild bank after my gm took revenge on the worst offender and sent all the useless stuff in the bank, in all of the gm's 8 toons personal bags, and out of their personal banks to him with a note which basically read:

"The guild paid for those bank slots. This is what is feels like to be swamped with useless #$%$. Don't do it again."

and he vendored it for whatever silver the items gave...basically a lot of free money without having to make any decisions...

This is the question, how do you judge what's 'useless' beyond the very obvious "no grays" rule?

Even if I'm familiar with the needs of a mage at level 40 or a warrior at 60, one person can't possibly know all the items that are available, how easy it is to get them, what professions the guild members have, how fast they are going to burn through certain levels and forget to check a couple of pieces of gear....

we keep bufffood, flasks, elixiers etc for raiding and not much else. Maybe the occasional BoE drop from naxx.

They stack up at the moment because we dont use them. But we would have them, just in case.

depends on the guild. For example I'm farming strat to get the last little bit of AD rep for the Argent Champion title. The Shadowcraft bracers dropped... they're a v nice pair of blue rogue bracers for the level but at this point most just go to outland and get gear there. Even as enchanting mats they're not worth much... but if I were a rogue at that level I'd grab them. Now, if you don't have any leveling rogues... DE or AH them. Same with the Unholy enchant that dropped...

On the other hand, if you have a guild full of people leveling alts keep the sub 55 blues on a tab for them and let them withdraw without restriction. Make a rule that anyone selling those will be gkicked.

Semii... tha GM was an ass. Unless that member was annoying in other ways they were trying to be helpful... misguided perhaps, but the GM SHOULD have simply sent the stuff back saying 'dude, don't put things below blues (or whatever) in... it clutters things up.

As to what we put in... shards from DE'd loot from guild runs that are useful for enchants we'll need, elixirs etc for guild raids, mats useful for leveling crafts etc.

A better way would be to spam the offender's mailbox with millions of Rough Arrows, which cost very little to buy and can't be sold back.

The junk of today is the item you desperately need of tomorrow.

I found that out when levelling JC. Suddenly all the mojo, elemental water and earth and whatnot, that I could never sell anymore during TBC cost an arm and a leg on the AH .....

QFT. I dropped BS on my warrior and picked up JC. I just hit the low 200's and I'm wishing I'd kept that stuff around

The guild I am in has 6 tabs, and depending on your rank in the guild you get access to the tabs. I currently can get 2 items from tab 1,2 and 3. Tab 1 is mostly crafting mats and low level greens/blues. Tab 2 is food items and quest stuff (bronze tubes, signet rings, over priced capacitors, etc...). Tab 3 is gems and glyphs. Tabs 4-6 have all the juicy stuff, enchanting mats, flasks, buff food for raids, high level BOE items, etc... To get to those you have to ask a guild officer. Only officers can put items in these tabs.

Typically people deposit stuff in tab 1 and one of the officers moves it to the appropriate tab. When there is excess junk it gets either DEd or vended and the money deposited into the guild bank.

We put all BOE Armor in tab 1, and raw materials in tab 2. Crafted mats like moonshouds and bars, gems, comsumables are in tabs 3 & 4. The other tabs are for rep items and misc things like Pets, and novelty items.

I have my guild pay all repair costs. So every week, all BOE items are listed in the AH, any items not sold are DE'd.

The last part is, I think key... "...every week, all BOE items are listed in the AH, any items not sold are DE'd." That gets people to look in the bank, not feel bad at taking something they can use and eliminates clutter.

All you really need to do is set some common sense rules (blues and above only for armor, etc) and make sure that people feel like it's fine to take things from the bank. Once you get into the 'X has taken 5 things and put nothing in" kind of policing it blows up... stuff on the open tabs should be OPEN. Sure, some people will take more than they give... but some will give later too. And, frankly, if I don't want people to take it, why the heck am I putting it in the bank?

Tab 1 has pots and food for buff's and an occasional pattern for a profession. Tab 2 holds Gems(cause I guild JC had too little Bag Space for all the Gems he had) and has Greens or Blue people found or made that they dont wanna sell back and will be used to DE and enchant guildies items.
