View Full Version : Mannerisms when posting

One thing I find funny... maybe even more to the point of hilarity, is when some random person comes on our boards and complains about something that Blizzard supposedly did to them or complains about something that happened to them and it's game or Blizzard related in some way... but they:

1. Complain and then never bother to come back and post again or continue the discussion, one post wonders huh?
2. Post and complain abou something Blizzard did, but they never bother to get specific as to what ...nor do they say what might have lead up to whatever action it was that made Blizzard act against. I.E. Blizz keeps locking my threads, banned me, etc, etc.

Well why? Did they troll or something? something more you're not telling us?

3. Say they got banned and it's unfair and leave it at that.

Comments?

I think some of it is just folk wanting to get something off their chest as it were - to vent. Maybe because they don't have access to the Official forums, or because they feel these forums offer a greater degree of anonymity - after all, you don't post from a Warcraft account here unlike the Official forums. They can say what the like without fear of Blizzard banning them (although that doesn't mean the mods here won't then ban them )

Wanting to vent is fine, but my point is posters more or less like the one with the free WoW account for several months...(thread is in a different sub here).

Anyways , it just seems kind of odd to start a discussion on something and then never come back

I would guess that the posters you're referring to probably do check back. However I suspect they'll leave forever once they see that this site isn't populated (in the main) by people who want to slag off Blizzard. In fact, the posters here are quite likely to ask awkward questions of the poster, questions to which they cannot give an answer without incriminating themselves ... and so they leave.

I've seen quite a few threads though, where the poster has been very clear about their issue (usually account hacking) and we, as a community, have been supportive. It is certainly true though that people who's first post here is "waaah! I've been banned from the official forums" are likely to get a much rougher ride than someone who's been posting here for a while and says "I got my account hacked and lost all my stuff".

Even first posters who report being hacked get support here, it's just the whiners who get the cold shoulder.

Hm, look at it this way.. if you wanted to vent about something, and you get a lot of "the story isn't watertight, it probably is a fake".. would you bother coming back to defend yourself? I sure wouldn't.

i woudlnt either, unless i wanted to add more to the story.... but usually, when people add more to the story, the truth gets revealed and everything they've said in their first post becomes undone.

They probably get annoyed by this site's oft repeated 'It's Blizzard's game, they can do what they want' line.

Reality tends to put a damper on venting.

Or it could be that people helped them look at things in a different perspective. I know some things have bugged me before, I go and do a search, and see if someone else is complaining (if not, then I will). Usually reading through that thread, I can see the argument against mine that makes sense.

I have also seen where someone complains but the responses are so rude that I don't blame them for not responding back. That's one reason I will not post on wowhead or the official forums. People are just looking to be rude to other people instead of trying to help.

I tend to be reasonable to people who post reasonably and I tend to ignore or be rude (I prefer blunt :) ) to people whose first post is full of flaming idiocy. The difference between the two is usually just activating your brain. You can vent and be reasonable in your posts, but venting QQ like, oh, "OMG BLIZZ SUCKS!1! The hunter nerf ruined WoW! This game is over for me!!!" will, if I reply, be greeted with something less than a shining example of kind-hearted sympathy. This is part of my continuing "You reap what you sow" policy. :)

No idea why it is so. Yes, some get support and never reply...maybe they need sites like mmo-champion more, where people are bullied and insulted on a regular basis. Mods and the community let an aweful lot pass and some sick stuff has been up for some time.

People get belittled and actually mobbed...stuff like that. Maybe this site is too civilized for them ^^
