I am running vista and when I try to patch it says your computer seems to be behind a firewall. My internet connection speed is 1mb/s and I usually download stuff at 100kb/s. The patch is downloading at 256kb per 10 minutes. I have a wired connection to my modem and I already forwarded ports on my firewalls then turned all of them off altogether. Why is it so slow?

Are you on both a software and hardware (router) firewall? If so, make sure the ports are forwarded through both.

Two things:

1. as Xandro posted, have you checked your router internal firewall settings and opened the ports. I note that you are port-forwarding, but this can be problematical in a DHCP set-up.

If you port-forward you have probably forwarded to to the IP of you client puter. Trouble comes when you turn on you client later and (for whatever reason) the DHCP server issues a different IP address. The forward fails. To resolve this set your client to a static IP address outside of your DHCP servers allowed range and forward the port to the static address.

2. Are you downloading the current patch or old patches. I had to reinstall WoW from scratch and spent a whole day watching the patches trickle in. I realised all too late that I had left the torrent active - so my puter was trying to access torrents that hardly anyone was seeding anymore. If you are looking for old patches, then disabling the torrents will speed things up alot.

Hope this helps.
