My poor tauren has been wandering around broke so hubby has decided to treat me to a guide. Trouble is I dont know which of these would be best for me:

Dugy's Ultimate Guide
Nymh
Idemise
Zygors

I have been playing the role of a tauren hunter since June (escept for 4 months due to medical reasons). I do not want to do p v p but I need lots of information on quests and if possible grinding as I like to do both. Also he said I need to try it first. I would prefer to get an in game one but dont want to break the rules Blizzard has set down as I really do love the game. Im also looking for one that says a lot about classes (my fishing leaves a lot to be desired...lol) and also a talent guide. I have been looking extensively for the last few days and managed to narrow it down to these 4. Obviously I need a secure site and am not sure about clickbank. The guide of course needs to be updated currently and frequently. I have the basic guide but I need more depth....lol.........good job Im an avid reader.

Thanx

personally I wouldn't bother with buying a guide, all the information you need can be found for free on the forums, and sites like wowwiki, wowhead, thottbot, etc. plus we have so many addons out now that leveling by quests is easy (especially on a hunter)

I personally don't think guildes contribute much, but I have leveled so many characters that I know most of the quests areas.

Joana's guide (look it up on the internet) is the best for Horde. He ran speed trials leveling as a hunter.

Get the carbonite mod. You'll love it for questing.

Bought-and-paid-for guides are not very good. And they are expensive for what they offer, which is information widely and freely available online. There is such a profusion of information out there, and it is detailed and concise. There are several free levelling guides. I prefer Jame's Guide (available at no charge online) and think he is good at telling you what quests are most worth doing in terms of points and loot. I've tried, once, following his guide implicitly for a character (level 40 Human Warrior) and the levelling went unbelievably fast and easily. So try the various websites before you spend money.

Jame's guide isn't for horde, though, is it?

The OP mentioned Horde.

IMO, quest information is certainly out there, but guides present the info in the most efficient fashion. Getting info on each quest on your own is slow. Also, the OP basically said "this is a done deal, please help me pick one...".

To each their own, IMO.

I'm pretty sure last time I visited the Jame's site, there were Horde as well as Alliance guides there. I know it's a sort of done deal for her, but maybe she'd rather splash out on something else.

(5 minutes later) Yep, just went to the Jame's site and he offers Horde guides as well. I've never played Horde, so have no way of knowing if they're as good as the Alliance ones, but his standards do seem to be high.

I wondered why Jame's free guide wasnt doing enough for me.......lol. I did look at Joannas guide but I couldnt afford that one and Im not really interested in videos......lol.......the only things I watch on tv are soccer and horse-racing. I just love horses. Im not interested in levelling up in x days but I do need more background information.

Thanx for your replies

His guide is an in-game mod, as well as web page text...both can be used independently...

I wish you luck in your search for the one that works for you!

A point that hasn't been mentioned yet. I often see books, magazine supplements etc etc etc for sale offering recipe lists, class guides, profession guides etc etc etc for non-trivial amounts of money.

As already mentioned, this information is freely available, but (and this is the big KO for me), come the next patch, the book/leaflet/whatever is out of date. For me, this is not money well spent.

When we first bought the game, we also bought the Brady Games guide and the Atlas. They were good for a few weeks and we found the Atlas quite helpful. It's still here as a sort of reference that we look at sometimes. But both quickly became out of date. And considering that we spent about £20 each, it was not a good investment.

I do miss the Online Atlas that Blizzard used to provide. It had a lot of good information but hasn't worked for me since WOTLK. I'm not sure if they plan to get it up and running again or not.

If you are a horde hunter and are willing to pay cash for a guide then go for Joana's. He plays a hunter and includes all the details of his talents, what pets to tame and when. As well a step by step guide complete with maps and paths around the zones. If you aren't wanting to spend cash then Jame's horde guide is pretty good too.

if you read around enough, in this forum and many other websites, you can get the same information for free. these guides have everything put together for you so that's really what you're paying for.

Have him Print out Jame's horde leveling guide and/or get the in game add-on version. Then have him spend the savings on taking you to lunch.
