The WoW sites I can access in work are linited, but from what I gather Tailoring's Swordguard Embroidery is going to be changed in 3.1 to proc off ranged as well as melee attacks. This would obviously be good news for my Hunter/tailor.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Cheers!

According to the version listed on the PTR:
Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, causing your damaging melee and ranged attacks to sometimes increase your attack power by 300 for 15 sec.
Even so, I'm still puzzled why your hunter would be a tailor.

Flying Carpet?

I originally had mining, but found it very boring. I chose tailoring because of the Flying carpet, and to a lesser extent the frostweave nets and northern cloth scavenging. It also goes quite well with enchanting.

Swordguard Embroidery is currently bugged: while it does proc off both types of attacks, it only grants melee attack power. This will get fixed in 3.1.2.
