Hey everybody,

I got unusual problem here... I've installed wow and upgraded it's version to 2.0.0, than i installed BC, and now i got 2.0.0 version of WoW, and all patches, witch I'm trying to apply to upgrade my version got the same problem (tried WoW-2.3.0-enUS-patch, WoW-2.1.0-enUS-patch.exe),
I'm getting an error:

Blizzard Updater was unable to read the file "D:\Games\World of Warcraft\Data\expansion.MPQ". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at D:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the update. (The data being read was "World\Maps\Expansion01\Expansion01_42_19.adt", and the error code was 0.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)


Patches are perfect, there is 9gb free space on disc D, i have tried to reinstall WoW 3 times and got the same error... Any ideas?

It would be better to install WoW and then install BC without patching first. Then start patching, unless you have WotLK, in which case install that as well before you patch anything.

Do not get all of the 2.x.x patches, just patch straight to 3.0 and then you can get the smaller patches like 3.0.8...

Agreed:
- Install wow classic CDs
- Install tbc CDs (or DVD)
- Install wotlk DVD (if you have it)
- Only then do you start bothering with patches!

Quick related question...

Given that I've been playing WoW & TBC (battle chest), does that mean that when I get to WotLK, I'll also have problems (because my version will be patched beyond WotLK release)?

Odd they would not plan that into the installation program.

when you install WotLK it will downgrade to 3.0 and youll have to download the patches again.
