Before I go further I'm going to nip any thoughts of software piracy in the bud: this question involves 100% purchased licensed copies of all software involved. Here's what I'm not sure about - I have 2 separate copies of WoW and TBC (each on separate accounts as well), and each is installed on a different PC. Before I go buy WotLK do I need to buy 2 copies in order to install on each computer or will one work for both? In other words, will one copy of WotLK upgrade 2 different accounts?

The software yes. But if you're talkingabout upgrading two accounts with the one key, no. The CDs can be used as many times as you want, that's how internet cafes do it. Blizzard give the software away free over the internet, it is the account key you're paying for.

No.
Just as you needed two copies of WOW to activate two different accounts, you also need separate copies of each expansion for each account.

Nope, that's why we had to buy three copies, one for each of our accounts. It will work on separate pcs...but will not work for multiple accounts.
For a complete breakdown, it goes like this:
Hubby's computer. Hubby's account. one cd code.
My computer AND my laptop (before it died), two computers, one account, ONE cd code.
Eldest son's laptop. His account. one cd code.
Three copies of Wrath purchased.

you can use 1 copy to Update as many computers as your want BUT you need different CD keys to be able to play each account.

One theory you would only NEED to buy 2 upgrade keys (one per account) and download the software once to install on all computers.
But oddly enough the online purchase option is more expensive than buying a physical box in a RL store...
I have several computers (home pc, home laptop, work laptop, old home pc). Each of them has wow installed and I can play any one of them with my account and so can my wife on her account.
