Hi All,

I was wondering if you good people could help me ?

I have been asked by a friend to help her find a laptop for her teenage son to use at college and play WoW, she has a budget of around £430

I have spent two days searching the net for specifications, comparing them to the ones listed on the WoW site, and yourselves ( your site is much easier ), and I realise that I am going about this in the wrong way.

Have any of you purchased a laptop in the last 6 - 12 months, for WoW, at around the £400 mark, and how have you found it.

I would rather ask for advice than clog up your board with endless " will this work....." posts

Many thanks

Andy

The price of laptops fall so fast that you should be asking if anyones bought one in the past month around the £400 mark. One bought 12 months ago for that price will now be available for much much less.

This will play WoW fine (it's slightly over budget but a nice piece of kit): http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-080-AC&groupid=959&catid=1201&subcat=

Honestly, today any laptop with 2GB RAM or more and a decent graphics solution (even if it's an integrated, shared memory one) will run wow acceptably around 15 fps when you turn down everything in the details section. Including some light instancing (nothing >5 man I think, but you're welcome to try ).

I have a 2 year old dual core X2 TL-60 with 2GB RAM and a Radeon X1250 and I can play just fine. Nothing over the top, but it'll do.

Then last januari I bought a ASUS F7Z-7S035C - RM72 for 712€ (660 £ it seems) and it runs the same thing super-fluid.

I'm sure you'll find what you need... Heck, an ASUS EEE souped up to 2GB RAM can run wow adequately!

Will do, it was getting set up last night, and as I have not received a frantic 'phone call, I assume it is working ok
