Sorry, but playing on private servers is not allowed by Blizzard and you risk all sorts of things (banning, suspension) by doing so. Better talk to this sibling, tell him that, and tell him to get everything back to the legitimate one.

Really? No way. I had absolutely no clue.

Look, its not hard to make sure he doesn't play on private servers. But thats not the issue i have now- I can't play on WoW until i get the Realmlist.wtf file information. so if you have anything to contribute to the actual topic, be my guest. If i wanted a rundown of blizzard's policies, i'd have asked for it.

i need the information of the actual realmlist.wtf, like from real WoW. not the private server.

Dont double post. I understand that you want to play again, but spaming here will rather get you banned than get you a answer faster. Greetings, Twoflower

You played on a private server? I mean...."your sibling" played there?

My contribution: Reinstall WOW, and all will be fixed. And don't go to private servers anymore...(dang...I meant "tell your sibling not to go there anymore.")

Have you tried Googling "Realmlist.wtf"?

I'm not getting into the ins and outs of private servers but my 10p's worth is that they suck. whats the point? I'd rather earn my gear on an official server with thousands of people than be given it on a server with maybe 3 other people running of some gimps home PC.

or maybe i'm just silly.

Just delete it, and then try to log into the official servers, should lead to the creation of a new file.

Btw, Froggie's warning was one of prudence. Last thing we either want or need, is you starting a QQ thread here about getting permabanned, because either you or your sibling had been playing on a private server, which subsequently lead to Warden flagging your account for closure.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

In your main WoW install folder, there is a file called Repair.exe. Delete the realmlist.wtf, rename or copy your WTF, WDB, and Addons folders so you won't loose your settings.

Run the repair.exe, it will fix any missing or corrupted files. Then move your WTF, WDB and Addons folders back, and it should be good.

And please don't get snarky with other users.

Go to your wow shortcut (the one that starts the game for you) and right click on it...It shows where wow is installed.

This post makes me LOL irl.

First off why dont you just say you made a mistake and admit to your mistake instead of saying your brother did it.

I mean this may be the truth but its HIGHLY unbelievable, well to me anyways.
Cause i made the same mistake, i wanted to try a private server, so i did and i hated it.

I would much rather play real WoW and earn gear the fun way.

Thats all i wanted to say really.. i hope your wow gets fixed and you never make this mistake again..

That depends where you are based. For EU players there is another (much quicker) way

Format C:
Install OS
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/downloads/client/

Choose WotLK FULL client. It comes pre-patched and includes vanilla and TBC.

Install.
