View Full Version : Returning To WoW and it won't patch! Please Help!

Hi, first time poster. I created this account to ask this specific question. Ok, so I used to play the original WoW when it first came out and never got into any of the expansions. I want to get back into it now, and am now on a different computer then I had used before. Everytime I open the game, it takes me to the login screen and I enter my account name and password, and then it says to me upgrading is done and it needs to restart to finish. It closes and brings up the Blizzard Downloader. From here, I am really stuck. It says 0% downloaded and doesn't change and the bar never progresses at all. It eventually says "Your computer may be blocked by a firewall." So I tried finding help, I opened up ports 6112 and 3742 I think, and after that didnt work I tried shutting my firewall off completely. I'm on vista and it's McAfee Security Center.

This is reaaalllyyyy frustrating and I really wanna get back into WoW, I have burning crusade and wrath of the lich king but havent installed either yet because I'd like to get this figured out first.

How long are you waiting?

Sometimes, it takes 5-10 minutes to start the download.

Just install Wrath, it contains the original and all expansions. After installing Wrath you only need a few small patches.

I think I've waited longer then 5-10 minutes but I'll try again.

And can I just install wrath without burning crusade?

Wrath contains all expansions. If you don't have a license for TBC you need to buy one first.

you can also try the patch mirrors (http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors).

be sure you download files for the correct locale and language of your game version. once you have the correct files and place them in the correct folders, you can run the background downloader again. it will simply check the files and apply them and you should be ok from there.
