View Full Version : Can you keep both mounts?

I'm not new to the game, but am new to flying mounts, having finally got my Hunter up to 70 and amassing enough gold to buy one (haven't done so yet, though). I've read all I can find on flying mounts but nothing seems to answer the one remaining question I have, and that is: when you acquire a flying mount, do you lose your terrestrial mount? I'd hate to have that happen, as I'm sure there are times you'd want to use it and not take to the air. I recall that when my Human Warrior got his fast terrestrial mount, he lost his slower one. That was disappointing as sometimes you just don't want to race across the landscape.

No you keep all you mounts, ground or air (and soon; sea). Thers an achivement to collect X amount of mounts.

Are you sure you warrior's slow mount isn't tucked away somewhere in your mounts tab?

I know....... I thought it would be, but it isn't. Nor is my husband's Warrior's either. Is that not the way it's supposed to be? I'd just thought that the slower one disappeared when you got a faster one, sort of like trading in your old car.

Mounts will dissapear from your bags when learnt... but they should still be in the mount tab on your char sheet.

Very strange.

You won't lose your ground mount. You still need it to go around areas of Azeroth and in northrend before 77. If you try using your flying mount then it will say something along the lines of "cannot use that"

If you hit shift-P, and then select the 'mount' tab, you should see a list of all mounts you have learned up till that moment - slow or fast, riding or flying, they should all be there. When you learn to ride a mount, the item disappears from your bags and it will appear in that list. So it looks as if you lost it, but in fact it was just added to that list.

The reason yours isn't there might be because you 'upgraded' your mount before this tab was introduced. I no longer have my slow flying mount because of this: I had sold it (or deleted, can't remember exactly) after I bought my epic flying mount, since I had a lack of space and didn't want to use up an item slot to a mount I no longer used.

That must be it, then. About the right time frame for us, I think. Thanks.

Yeah mounts are never 'consumed'. My warrior still has all his mounts, I was tempted to sell or delete his old Piebald one for extra space once I got my first epic mount, but I did hang on to him and when the new tab system came in I made sure to add him straight away :)

Then I have no idea where it could or would be. I just logged on to the Human Warrior (he's a level 66 now, got that mount at level 30) and there's no slow mount anywhere in anything, Mount tab, the whole works. All he's got is a Swift Palomino. Then I checked Pets to see if somehow it ended up over there, but no, there's only a Baby Blizzard Bear and that's it.

Have you checked his bags and bank? It might be that you bought both the slow and fast mount under the old system and banked your old trusty steed, then when they changed the mount system you just "learned" the fast mount and forgot the slow one sitting in your bank.

If it's not there either, you can always buy a new slow mount if you so wish. They only cost 10g each so not a huge loss if you've ended up deleting the old one.

Oh, I keep a close eye on the bank so I don't accumulate junk in it. But no, it's gone, gone from every possible place it could be and as I recall, it disappeared immediately when I bought the faster one. Nobody ever told me it ought to still be there, so I thought this was the way it always happened. That's why I was concerned that if I bought a flying mount I'd lose the terrestrial one.

I recently dinged lvl 77 and when I click on the started flying mount I got in Shadowmon Valley, it still says, you can't use that here.
Do I need to purchase the epic flying mount to fly in Northend? or is there another way?. I hope so, because I only have about 400g currently

You don't need an epic flying mount for that, with cold weather flying you can just as easily float around Northrend on your first flying mount.

The skill is trained in Dalaran, at the flight point Krasus Landing. You require level 77 and 1000 gold, so you are still a bit short, but it is far less than the 5000+ gold it would cost you getting an epic flyer.

Thank you, I appriciate it. I have counted on these posted to help me through early goings. I cannot link anything at work, but was curious that as a lvl 77 surv hunter, I have 200+ hit rating, 2300 ap and 27% crit rating. My gear has me over 800 agility without pots (I am alchemy). I see I do 390 DPS without any shots, and I see 2000+ come off mobs when fighting, is this good or bad. I think you can check stats on armory

That's actually a question better fitting for the Hunter forum...
