but I do have a couple of questions I hope the community can help me with.

I have enjoyed playing the game the last couple of years but am not a hardcore raider and probably never will be. I take it then that the only way to get tier set pieces is by doing certain raid/dungeon instances. I don't want 'welfare' epics, I want to earn what I get myself. Are there other item/armour pieces that are near in quality to tier pieces or should I try to work on finding the time to become a hardcore raider? It is really worth the time? I do enjoy being a casual player and spending time with friends in-game.

Thank you for your advice, it's much appreciated and good luck to all those attempting Ulduar. I wish you the best.

My advice: Be yourself....If you don't have the time to raid....DON'T RAID.

Get the WG token gear, and do heroics for the heroism gear.

If you can spend a few hours in naxx, great. Otherwise, have fun with friends.

This is entertainment, and you should have fun. If you have to change your life to have fun in the game, the game isn't the right game, IMO.

Mesonm has it dead right. If your happy being a casual,as am I,there's no reason to change RL to fit the game.

I would suggest joining a 'casual' raiding guild. My guild raids every weekend but I only run with them 1-3 weekends a month. I haven't heard any issues from the guild about my attendence. Although I might be expected to run a bit more now with 3.1 out. Either way, find a guild that you can raid with if you have time and get some nicer gear but you're not forced in any way to do so everyweek.

Thanks so much for the advice. I knew this was a great community. I'll take your suggestions to heart. Your right, it's a game and it's for fun. :)

you can get pretty far with crafted gear depending on your class/spec (on my priest I totally bypassed the T7 healing chest in favour of the moonshroud robe). if you have the money, its definitely worth it especially for weapons which are harder to get than armour. things like the titansteel destroyer are great, since there is so much competition for 2-handers with warriors and DKs all going for them. you can get 2 pieces of T7 gear from the emblems of heroism (hands for 60, chest for 80) so aim for those once you get the emblem trinket.

like the others said, find a casual raiding guild. since wrath, these have popped up all over the place and you can easily get in 2 raids in a couple of hours (VoA and OS). if you can get to naxx (even just the first few bosses) its worth it, and doesn't take long.
