I installed the patch okay and I started up the game. It was okay. When I tried to log back on I get launch screen and after clicking "Play" the screen goes black with only the hand pointer visible.
I have a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core, OS 10.5.6, 2GB RAM, nVidia 8800GT video card.
Anybody have any ideas?

Try the repair utility, check to see if your firewall is blocking Warcraft (this happens to me on all sorts of programs all the time), see if any other programs are having the same issue, erm... can't think of anything else as it's 06:46am and the F1 qualifying is about to start :)

Hmm... OK this is shot in the dark....
1) Delete the WDB folder (inside Cache in the WoW folder) and rename the WTF folder (don't delete, no point in losing your preference settings if this isn't it.
2) Launch directly, not via the launcher.
3) You should see the cinematic, as if it was a first launch of the game... see if you do and whether or not you see it fine but lose the app.
4) My actual WoW program is 25,682,702 bytes (do a get info on World of Warcraft.app in /Applications). If yours is a difference size perhaps it's damaged?
5) In the WoW folder there's an Errors folder... are there any text files in there with recent dates?

Thanx for the suggestions. I repaired disk permissions and removed addons. Still didn't work. Then I restarted--that seemed to do it, though I had to go through the license accept screen again, and now it's working. We Mac users just forget to reboot sometimes because OSX is so stable. Have no idea what was wrong. At least I didn't have to trash pref files and all that.
