I'm planning on getting a new computer. I'm not using it just for WoW, but I would like it to be able to run. A computer that I'm looking at has these specifications:

* Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 Processor
* Intel G31 Chipset Motherboard
* 4GB High-Speed DDR2-800 Memory
* 22x DL DVD+/-RW Drive
* 500GB SATA Hard Drive
* Onboard Audio, LAN
* NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 1GB
* NZXT Alpha Chassis + Blue Lighting
* 600 Watt PSU
* Keyboard/Mouse
* Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Will this work? Also, will it work for more graphic-intensive work?

Thanks in advance for any replies~

It'll run WoW fine - prob on the higher settings aswell. I'm not sure what other graphics intensive things you're looking for but I assume you mean other games... which it should run fine.

It's a funny time to buy a new PC... the old socket 775 CPU's will be being phased out by intel (along with it the motherboards and DDR2 memory), which means the prices will soon start to tumble. This is evident as the Q8300 is reported to be the last of the quad cores. The i7 stuff (the next generation if you like) will be phased in and the price of those should start to come down sharply over the next 6-9months.

I'm waiting now until the end of this year to build a new PC. I know prices will always be cheaper next week but I have a feeling we'll start seeing more punch for my pound towards christmas (and I have the small matter of my wedding on a couple of months).

All in all you've picked a nice system that will keep you in WoW for a while before you need to upgrade. If you can squeeze a bit more cash out of the piggy bank I'd go for a newer graphics card but it shouldnt really effect WoW unless you're playing at the higher resolutions (1920x1200 for example).

I would suggest a more powerful graphics card. I have the 9800GTX and I use the ultra settings on WoW. Just make sure the power supply can handle it.
