Heya
Just a quick question, I'm looking to get a new graphics card for my old PC so my son can use it to play a little wow. The mother board can only use the old AGP style cards and I've been looking around for a replacement. Will a NVIDIA 7800GS be any good as I can get my hands on one quite cheap.
Thanks in advance.

It'll run WoW... not brilliantly but at lower resolutions it should be OK.
How cheap is "quite cheap"?
There are still a few AGP cards on the market that are newer than the 7800 series (ATI 3650 and 3850 both come in AGP flavours - the 3850 will run WoW fine)

i use a 7800gs currently..not a bad card if u cant seem to get away from agp, i run 1440x900..tons of mods, all settings almost on their lowest and still do 30fpsish in raids (dalaran can be messy at peak hours, 15-20fps range), as said though ati makes newer agp cards like the 3850 which should be superior to the 7800gs in everyway, still just agp though so dont expect more than 5-10 fps bump over the 7800 (its ur money, dunno the pricing on 7800gs' anymore lol)

I used to use an old Gainward 7800 GS in AGP format for a while. It was a good card, plenty of graphics horsepower. It'll do fine for WoW, if the price is good go for it, just make sure your PSU in the old rig can handle the heavy power draw it demands.

Thanks all I will give the card a try then, the card is only costing me 20 pounds so no real loss in the purse. I’m only using this pc as a trial for him to play wow, tell the truth he probably will spend most of his time running around killing rabbits in the Barrens.

On the subject of the graphics card I ended up getting the ATI3650 and new power supply, works lovely now.
