This depends on your chosen method of levelling.
For questing and grinding, Hunter.
For instancing (the most efficient method if you're using RaF and the powerleveller is a third unlinked character), either DK or Paladin.

Between druid and priest, I found that levelling was easier and faster in druid in feral form. I found the priest painfully slow to level up. Mind you, that applies to early levels only, as I never got very far with either of those... (about lvl 12 priest, and 22 druid) but I think priest get better with shadowform or something... but probably not as good as druid.
Generally, powerlevelling is best done by a build that has low-cost dps and can survive well. That means either melee classes focused on dps, caster classes with good crowd control + high AoE damage, or pet classes.

A priest is not fast at all to level. I was having to sit and drink after every 2-3 kills. Granted I was using all spells and not wanding at all.
Ret paladins are WAY easy to level. Very fast. You rarely have to stop.
Mages are ok as far as speed. DK's are stupid easy to level (granted they are starting at 58).
Rogues are pretty fast as well.
Hunters are always fast. You never have to stop and you have yourself and your pet that is doing dmg.
Feral druids are fast as well because of the little downtime.
Warlocks are fast to level.
That is pretty much my extent of leveling characters.
Enjoy your solo gameplay, because when you totally suck in group play and dont know your class - solo play is what you will be doing a lot of!
Now please go away and play on the motorway.

When genuinely leveling a new character, I think the fastest classes are those that can do melee damage then heal themselves with mana, ie Druids and to a lesser extent Paladins and Enhancement Shamans.
Pet classes are also very speedy - Hunters and Warlocks. Obviously DKs have a pretty good head start and due to the nice gear they start off in are pretty unbeatable for a few levels into Outland.
The slowest IMO are the classes that use mana to fight and need to drink afterwards - Mages and Priests, and the classes that can't heal themselves - Warriors and Rogues.
Actually I disagree on the rogues. I was levelling my rogue really really fast. How? Bandages. Every 2 minutes, use one if necessary. 8 seconds, full heal. They are not needed much at the start, and soon enough you can use bandages that actually overheal you ...
Warlocks are double fast, as they have a pet and LT / bandage.
Any class using alchemy is good - as my priest now shows. Just don't hesitate to actually buff yourself with all the stuff you can create and throw on that foodbuff. Especially from 70 on with TBC mats and recipes..then Northrend - it does make a difference.
Have to admit that the fact that I play 10 characters with all professions helps, as unused stuff is just handed downwards. Nothing like using Heavy Frostweave bandages at lv 70, clam chowder to get a nice foodbuff and damage and a combination of guru and mageblood elixirs or similar.
Mage I needed a low mana useage specc like frost and really buff myself, use all mana saving skills and the citrine all the time as well as evocation on every CD. Works, but needed getting used too..especially after playing a warlock (see above)
At the end of the day, it was indeed my warrior who had to pause most to eat and bandage...disappointed that a plate "tank" class is so vulnerable ^^

Det, I've levelled every class to 72+ The Rogue wasn't an easy feat as opposed to the others as per Maticus's thread. Lvl 1-72 was pure hell for me (where my rogue sits at now). Bandages still take time, and you have to be away from mobs to use them. I found I really had to balance out lots of food with lots of bandages... and I had tons of mats for bandages from other toons..
I even had that trinket "fetish of [something]" that when triggered and after a fight that grants you exp it will heal you for 900 hp. Still didn't help out that much. I think that trinket drops from one of the Auchidroun instances.

Sounds like you might need to get your dodge up. My rogue (my main) wasn't that hard to level up, but you need to pick your targets carefully and use a lot of stuns to keep them from damaging you. I preferred casters to heavily armored mobs when possible -- most of their damage output is in interruptible spells and if you can get them tied up, there really just isn't much they can say to you. Yes, you need to be strategic about it, and remember all your "Get Out of Jail Free cards", like vanish, sprint (run away! run away!), evasion, etc. I also highly recommend being an herbalist, which gives you a pretty decent self heal that doesn't even break stealth.
I can't recommend improved stealth enough for the leveling rogue. It just makes life sooo much simpler.

Until OL's, there is no dodge on item drops. Even in OL's it's tough to get those drop now, as you'll be rifling through OL's to NR.
You spend an equal amount of time eating/bandaging if not more than actually killing gaining exp as a rogue. I tried all specs of the Rogue and it always was... Kill one guy (take 10-15% damage)... kill another... (same thing)... "Oh Crap - aggro'd 2 mobs"... Burn all my CD abilities... pull one more guy... take 30% damage and than realizing I can't bandage again for 30 secs... eat food. Get ready to pull again. Even in NR I find after 3 consecutive kills I have to use a bandage or food. I have decent parry and exceptional dps. I'm in full combat right now with swords.
The CD's on a rogue is simply too long. They need to change it to make him what he truely should be.
Easy mode is a druid cat/bear, Ret Pally, Lock demon, Obviously the DK (if you can get one).
Well, I am with Renata on this one, and the pwnage continues in Northrend...sooooooo
