Hi there all, as you can see i'm relatively new to this forum above all else and i was wondering if you would be able to help me.

You see, i quit WoW in November of last year, just before Wotlk came out for a few reasons. I was perhaps wondering - is it worth returning to the World i've been so curious about?
My main issues with it were:

1) I have a level 70 Paladin, and i just felt with the massive boost in the first test patch for Wotlk, Retribution was going to be completely smashed, and once again, my only 70 would be left DPS-less and pain-staking to level again. Question one: Is retribution viable for: a) Leveling; b) PvP

2) The leveling content in TBC was fun at first - but got repetitive. Stalking the same creature over and over, removing lord knows what body part, rinse and repeat all became a little tiresome. After doing it for weeks to get to 70, i didn't want to have to do 80! The question in this case is: Is the leveling content genuinely fun, or just another hurdle in Wotlk?

3) I was never really into raiding, moreso just small-time PvP & a touch of arena. I was worried i'd lose that to have to do lots of grinding & dungeons! Question Three: Is Wotlk viable for those who have little time / casual players?

4) I was becoming concerned that, with my nostalgic tendencies, WoW was losing it's old-world charm in favour of a less-competitive game for any 12 year old who can pick up a keyboard and spam '1'. Final Question!: Is the content in Wotlk so different? If so, do you prefer it to previously?

I know it's a pain, but in the end, it will help a lot. Thankyou all for your feedback, i really appreciate it! ^_^

- Regards, Zallin.

Welcome to Worldofwar.net!

I really don't think you will be disappointed with WotLK. I'll answer your questions as you asked them:

1) Paladins in WotLK are very powerful. When I was raiding a few months ago, Ret Paladins were always near the top of the DPS meters. In PvP they are Gods. /cry

2) Leveling in WotLK is a joy compared to older stuff. Blizzard has really gone all out to make the quests different and challenging in new ways. There is also a choice of zones to level in at the start and later on, meaning that you can swap to another zone if you get bored somewhere.

3) Yes. There's still the Arena of course and PvP. There's also Wintergrasp which is a blast and a new Battleground. You can join BGs from anywhere now, not just at the NPCs in cities. You're put back to wherever you were when you entered the BG too ^ ^

4) The new content takes you back to the original WoW theme. Olde Worlde medieval style rather than floating crystals and spaceships. It's also had a big graphics boost, and as I said before, Blizzard have really made an effort to make the content fresh. I don't know of anyone that prefers TBC content to WotLK stuff.

Hope that was helpful!

Thankyou! I really appreciate it.

It sounds like i'll get stuck back into the game for sure!

Just quickly, i'm also interested in a few things.

As much as i love Horde, to rid myself of my past playing, i'd love to re-roll an Alliance character and just go with what i feel like.
Would you be able to help me with choosing a class in regards to Wotlk?

i) I want to be able to do mostly solo quests throughout the game - not in groups;
ii) I want a class that holds well in PvP, isn't repetitive and is fun!
iii) I don't really need a group-oriented class as i don't plan to do much group work.
iv) I love doing lots of burst damage and killing things fast - [as little down time as possible though!]
v) Finally, i love purist classes - not really into hybrids.

What would you suggest? Race / Class as well from personal experience / what's fun?

Thankyou! - Zallin

I would say paladin.
But since you had paladin on horde side, then one of those:
Druid, Shaman, Hunter.

All of them should be viable for your requests. With Druid and Pala letting you to spec for all healing / dps / tanking / pvp. Due to new dualspec ability you can pick 2 of them and switch easily anytme you want.

Since you want an Alliance toon and you have a level 70 already(Faction doesn't maater when rolling a Death Knight either) I would roll an Alliance Death Knight. They are new in WotLK. As a Death Knight you can solo all the quests you come across in the Northrend like a Ret. paladin but you don't have to start from level 1. A Death Knight starts at level 55 and gets some great Gear to start with and a not bad at all weapon. If you want some burst damage you would spec Blood. They get tons of passive like self heals and plate armor...lol..what else could you want ^_^.. Race Humans i guess for the Bonus + to maces and swords..if i am not mistaken.

Yeah! That would be probably the best idea.

I forgot to add that Death Knight don't use mana either more like rage like a warrior but called Rune Power and it builds up fast while you attack using your attack skills. Plus you have things called Runes that you use X-amount for certain attacks...and all specs are very fast at leveling...with Virtually no downtime what so ever. Frost is a tanking spec and would depend on your play style if it would be fast or not..In the end specs are tied into how you like to play...Sorry about leaving all this important info out.

OMG, I am so forgetful this morn..very sorry for jacking this thread up...One more thing Blizz added was if you have a level 55...that you have a level 70 8^ )....you can roll a level 55 Death Knight on any realm..So, in short if you have friends that play on a different realm..you can roll a Death Knight on any realm.. Hope all this info is helpful..

 Blizzard made it so if you had a Level 55 of either a Horde or Alliance you could roll a level 55 Death Knight Horde or Alliance and it didn't matter what faction your main was..So if you had a Alliance toon at atleast level 55 you could roll a Horde Death Knight or an Alliance Death Knight..an any realm to .
