In the beginning of the game, I used to get experience for killing monster, but as I progressed I noticed that I didn't get exp for killing any monster even if its level 8 or 9.
Is this normal or what?

Also, when do I get to buy pets and mounts.
If this helps then I'm a night elf warrior

If you are killing monsters a lot lower than you (with their level number in grey) you won't get any XP for killing them. Try to kill mobs around your level to keep getting good XP
Pets and mounts - you need to be level 30 to be able to buy your first mount. Being a Night Elf you can buy the training and the mount for then guy in Darnassus.
As a warrior you can't have a pet that fights ofr you (only hunters can have that) but theres also someone who sells the owl non-combat pet in Darnassus too by the exit to the starting area. Also there are many non combat pets on the AH though the prices are usually a lot higher than actually going and getting it yourself from the vendor.

At the lower levels, even the vendor's prices are too high IMO

I disagree. Since vanity pets are just that, a vanity point and a luxury, vendor prices are not too high. You don't need them. You only want them. They are not imperative to leveling, questing, etc. They're just...there. And then after awhile, you just forget the things are there. My pet tab is filled with the pet detrius of three years of playing this game. I have rare pets, etc, and 99% of the time I just ignore them. I used to have a ritual of raiding with my magical crawdad out, but now even that is...well... lame.

Still, at 50s and the level you encounter the vendor (typically L9 to 10 at yr capital city), you have to choose between a pet or being able to buy your spells next time you ding.
That pretty means you can't buy them at all until later when you've already forgotten about them...
I think, as a flavour item, you should be able to afford one race-specific pet. Perhaps you get one BoP for free in the mail when you ding L5.

One of the points of having a vanity pet is that not everyone and his mother owns them. Yes, they are expensive at the early levels, without a high level to support you, but they should be.That pretty means you can't buy them at all until later when you've already forgotten about them...No, it means you need to put in a little extra effort to grind a bit more money if you want to be able to afford the pet at your current level.I think, as a flavour item, you should be able to afford one race-specific pet. Perhaps you get one BoP for free in the mail when you ding L5.Seriously, where the's the fun in that... Like the Blizzard Bear, very cute pet and I definately love it, but I never take it out. How can you be vane with a vanity pet that everyone else has too?

Vanity pets just don't have the same effect anymore. They used to be fairly rare, now everyone has dozens of them. I remember people were very jealous of my Lurky pet, but when I get Tyrael out now, much more impressive IMO, no one bats an eyelid :(
Speaking of Tyrael pets, do we still have some to give away...?

I love my Worg Pup, looks great with my Druid when in travel form, a lil pup chasing a big cat around orgrimmar, and he looks cute trying to keep up when mounted.

Guildie of mine has 47 of them and there used to be a time I would be very impressed. Even the really rare pets just aren't really worth that much anymore, because there are so many pets out there people don't even take a second look at how rare yours actually is.
