What is your most embarassing or hysterical noob story? Personally I made a NE and was exploring Teldrassil. I found the demon on one of the branches out into nothing and when he summoned his minions I jumped. I was alive and had the idea to drown myself. As smart as I was I didn't understand the spirit healer so I jumped down to get my body...then realized I wouldn't get to Rut' Theran any faster because I had to res and...you get it. So after like 10 minutes I got back to RT:tongue: Please share your stories!

Well, my noob experience, around a week after starting to play the game, my friend opened an undead priest and I opened a belf priest. We wanted to quest together but didn't know how to get to each other (We didn't know of the orb of translocation in UC and SM) so I ran through EPL and WPL mostly as a ghost cause everything there killed me in half a strike.

Well... Starting an Undead warrior, getting to the crossroads that lead to Brill/Undercity/WPL and thinking 'Hey, this looks like an interesting road!'. So I set off into WPL, convinced I could just walk anywhere because 'enemies' would be the same level as I was... Suffice it to say it took me a few deaths to realize that not only...

a.) the mobs were crazy strong and MUCH higher levelled than I was
b.) they somehow senses me coming from MILES away

I never got over my dislike for WPL ever again. ^^

I didn't realize that the yelled advice that I had to "Go back to your body and rez!" I got from the living room when I wailed that I had died for the first time didn't necessarily mean I had to stand ON my body to rez. Certainly I saw the accept rez now? question, but it didn't quite click that I could get out of the evil yurt of doom which had killed me by rezzing OUTSIDE of it when my body was INSIDE of it.

Swam from Ratchet to Steamweedle port to get to Gadget because the big Taurens at the top of the Great Lift made me think that EVERYTHING beyond was going to be PvP flagged and could kill me.

When i first started, i made a dwarf Pally. i went to IF for the first time, i ended up running around the town for 20 min thinking where does the road end, not knowing the IF was a circle. and of course i didnt pay attention to where the entrance was when i first came in.

Oh god my biggest noob moment was when i thought you had to have epic flying before you could get Cold Weather Flying. i was desperately trying to save the 6k until someone in Guild when i was 80 informed me i could just go and buy Cold Weather flying without Epic flying.
All that time flying around on the mega slow loaned gryphon >.<

Well, when I started my first char ever (Undead 'lock) I got this "awesome" shield from a mob at around lvl 5 or so. So, I tried to use it (duh!), and me and my brother though for a long time what I just had to wait a few lvls and then I would be able to use it.

Other than that, my friend once had to drown himself in Stormwind due to the fact that he couldn't find his way out. Man, we have laughed at him for that. :)

Only finding the AH and bank at around level 25-29ish. The amount of stuff I dropped or vendored amazes me looking back :)

Oh and going to wsg at level 10 after being invited by my old rogue friend who was level 11. Neither of us had been before and we didnt go again for quite some time lol.

Levelling my first character a pally to level 39 without ever using talents or professions. Never was keen on reading instruction manuals...

I do not know too many people that have NOT done this. I know I did when I was a low level and thought the exact same thing.

"What, did you smell me coming from the other side of the zone or something"

I still giggle when I see the low level undead corpses at the Bulwalk

I got my hunter to level 35ish before my work colleges told me my pet can learn new skills besides growl. Still get the micky taken out of me to this day about that one.

Another one: When WoW first came out (oeh, loooong time ago!) I wanted to buy the collector's edition, because - among others - you could choose to get a pet! So I bought the CE, installed the game and started a tauren druid (still my main). She got to have that cute little panda (which still accompanies me, hehe) and as I levelled, I started to wonder why the heck that panda wouldn't level with me! I tried feeding it stuff, tried putting armor on, tried buffing it or healing it, but nothing worked!

So I asked around in Thunder Bluff about why my pet wouldn't level. First I got questions about what pet I was using and when I said I used a panda, someone replied it's a COMPANION PET and only hunter pets can level...

You can understand I was quite disappointed for a while... XD

my n00b experience (since playing for nearly a month now) - discovering that when you learn a trade i.e. fishing - that you can purchase the tools to do this beside the trainer....duh! Had fishing for a couple of weeks and went round all the shops trying to find fishing equipment not thinking about trying the guy beside trainer.

Other than that - just being a n00b by screaming at the screen everytime i fight ghouls and i get feared and start running away.....i believe the term is computer rage!

I never had any genuine 'noob' moments.

(Reading multiple guides/FAQs on various aspects of the game before installing it may have something to do with it)

When BC first came out I started a Draenei hunter and really wanted one of the dragonhawks as a pet. Someone told me about the ones around Silvermoon so I had my heart set on them. When I found out where that was located I didn't want to go through the Plaguelands (was level 16) so i had the bright idea to grab swim speed potions and try to swim around the continent. Quickly discovered that you cannot get there like that so I ended up drowning myself since I didn't want to have to swim back to Menethil. Well it popped my ghost to Swamp of Sorrows. Was quite a trip getting out of there at 16 with rezz sickness.

When I was level 19 on my Dwarf Rogue, I was finishing up the last few quests in Westfall and read somewhere that in the southern hills there was a Dwarf where you could hand in some hops. I set out to find him, but completely missed the pass that leads to him. I went south and south, eventually slid off the far cliff and ended up in the water. I decided to follow the steep shore, because surely I'd eventually find some sort of secluded cove where that ruddy Dwarf was hiding.

After what seemed like quite a while, and a few fruitless attempts to leave the water through some sort of huge dam, I discovered a few small islands with weird-looking creatures on them. They looked pretty cool, had a really nice name, but except for a vendor (who sold stuff that I couldn't even use, meh) nobody wanted to have anything to do with me. A bit beyond I saw the shore, so I jumped back into the water and headed that way.

I found myself in some sort of jungle, which looked pretty nice but I started to get the feeling that the Dwarf I was looking for wasn't anywhere near here. I saw on the world map that this area was connected to Duskwood, so I started running towards the spot on the map where the path would have to be. Then a huge tiger spotted me. Hey cool, I thought, they actually have jungle animals in this area. Hm, I wonder what that skull means..

It took me quite a while to corpse run out of STV. And I didn't find that bleedin' Dwarf till I was level 30something, either.

Yeah, I tried swimming from Teldrassil to Auberdine.

And falling OFF Teldrassil from Darnassus and trying to swim back around to Ruth'eran Village.

I as well was killed by a Plagued Bear on one of my first Undead chars.

I dropped Enchanting at L7 because I couldn't DE the only greens I could find (Malachite ).

Didn't actively use Bear Form until a bit before L20 when you get cat.

For a long time I insisted on levelling by finding the biggest baddest 2H Mace I could find and, in true munter-style, killing things by healing me and swinging that hammer. This persisted until around L35.

Thing is: I knew it wasn't the most optimal way to dps, but I was never short on mana. One time even, on an SM Armory run, I outdps-ed a same level warrior (he had shoddy gear though while I was loaded with sta and str and a blue mace for which I had borrowed gold from my then girlfriend to buy from the AH). Boy was I confirmed in my beliefs then...

Then, as I couldn't afford the next mace I had my eyes on in the AH, I started playing the way I should.

EDIT:
- I actually started with Cobalt Crusher
- Then I got Mograine's Might as a drop
- Then I got some staff that kept me silent until I saw
- Twig of the World Tree. This costed WAY too much though.

My first character was a night elf hunter. I leveled him to almost 20 before someone politely told me that I'd find questing and hunting easier if I had a pet.

Newbie n00b things:
VERY FIRST CHARACTER I ever created. A Human Mage WAAAAAAY back when in ought'four (2004) during the Stress Test Beta. (My, how you've changed WoW).

I look at my minimap and see an arrow. Hovering over it reveals "Stormwind City".

"Hmm" says I. "That must be where I go to train."
*run run run* *blown away by statues in Stormwind* *ask guard for Mage tower directions*
"Damn" said I "I don't have enough monies. I'll go kill a wolf."
*Get owned*
*Dang" said I. "I can't kill that wolf."

The wolf was level 5. I was level 1.

Also during the stress test beta:
I leveled 1-9 in about one week. I was doing like, zero quests, and mad killings of random monsters. On the last day, I create a new character and go from 1-9 in one day doing mad quests. From then on, I did mad quests.

Not newbie n00b things:
Pulling patchwerk with my race car I got from Christmas this past year. I have ever since been known as "Speed Racer" by my guild, and I have buried that DEEP within by bank. If you want to know how, I closed all my bank bags and just right clicked on it, meaning I have NO IDEA where it is in the bank.

I haven't bothered to find it either. I was most ashamed of myself for doing that.

It's not really a noobish thing of me, but of all my guild members on our first try at Patchwerk. We were really proud when we entered the Construct Quarter and got to the first boss without someone dying or us wiping. We saw the big bad Patchwerk and decided to engage him. Without clearing the room first.

What followed was the shortest ever boss fight I saw. By engaging Patchwerk we pulled the WHOLE ROOM and died in about three seconds flat. Suffice to say I remind everyone about that first try every time we engage Patchwerk. And although we wiped, LOTS of laughs were had! ^^

Bearing in mind I was an old Everquest player , who also spent a lot of time in Diablo II :)

Soo .. I opted to play a rogue (remember in EQ rogues ALWAYS used daggers) , so daggers it was , and in Diablo II , there was NO respeccing , soo , rather than wanting to reroll , I did 43 levels ... untalented ;)

The Sinister Strike with daggers method :D

Quick Edit: Also due to how levelling in Everquest was , aka grinding , I skipped the quests and fell in to old habits , Grinding ... ZZzzZZzzZzzz..
..
Was about five weeks after I started playing when some hunter asked my spec , the answer to which I hadn't go a clue , turned out to be my Uber 0 0 0 spec :) , He kindly informed me i *could* respec , and gave me a Phantom Blade for 44.

..
Haha, good stories. Anyone have raid flubs or accidentaly wipe a party?
I managed to kill my raid twice on Naj'Entus during a slow night :)
First time I wasn't watching my position when killing the two Elementals in front of him
In the name of Lady Vashj ~oops
was Lazy and took a rez .
Didn't check which way my character was pointed before pressing the back arrow (intending to move away before eating my buff food)
In the name of Lady Vashj ~oh dear.
I ran back that time , ..
..
I also did a nice Sarth3D wipe , due to us not having a hunter , I was the one responsible for pulling the boss to our deathknight (god knows why)
Normally it would be Tricks of the Trade , Throw + two sinister strikes , the tank would turn the boss and hold it for the rest of the fight ... right ? :)
wrong+ , i had our warlock targeted with my focus macro instead.
so Sarth stomped his way over to the wrong side of the raid , the whole thing all went pear shaped in seconds as a result.

I am a clothie, and I didn't realize that cloth gear could be repaired. I thought once it went red, it was worthless and I would just delete the item.
