I need advice! A few days ago I was unable to log into WOW and kept getting a msg saying wrong password....so I followed the links and changed the password. After I did that I noticed an email saying that someone (not me) had already changed the password earlier in the day. Now my account is temporarily disabled and I have no idea what is going on! I emailed admin but have not gotten any response or explanation. Did someone try to hack my account??? What can I do and what will Blizz do?

To make matters worse....when I read throught the emails I realized they were addressed to my ex-boyfriend's name and not mine. He installed the game for me years ago but I have been the only one playing the account and paying for the account. I am really worried that his name is on the account and now Blizzard is going to closed the account because my name isn't on it! What can I do about this? I have been working so long leveling my warlock and I'm finally up to 76 and do not want to lose all that time I've invested in playing this character! Any advice on how to handel this?
Thank you....

Is it possible your ex boyf decided to mess you around and change your account details? If not, sounds like you've been hacked and will need to contact Blizzard asap. They can take a while by email, try calling them directly.

I believe that your ex-boyfriend change the password but I guess you can still request the password to reset if your account was registered to your personal email unless your ex-boyfriend have access to your email.

Thx for your replies so far....my ex did not change the password so I suspect someone tried to hack into it. I called Blizzard and have enlisted the help of my ex to put the account in my name...this involves a ridiculous amount of documentation from both of us but Blizzard is ok with doing it. I need to do the name change though before I even find out if anyone got in my account and what they did with my characters. The whole process seems like it will take awhile.

I will change my email password...that is a good idea just in case.

Thank you!

I would also change your E-mail Password.

how could someone really break into your account if they don't know your password/email password? I don't think it's possible but I think you are right that someone tried to hack your account. I only lost one WOW account in my life and that was when I was using some really easy guesable passwords. I will never do that again.

How do authenticators work? Do you buy them from Bliz?

I'm still waiting for my account to be enabled....going on a week and a half now!

You buy an Authenticator from the Blizzard Store. Not particularly expensive - I think mine cost £6.95. It's a small plastic device with a pushbutton (to generate a six-digit number). Then you go to the official website and 'attach' that Authenticator to your account, using the serial number on the back of the device. Thereafter you start logging in by doing the account name/password bit, then are asked for a randomly generated Authenticator number which will be known to the website. Push the little black button, a number shows in the little screen, you type it in and enter it and the game loads as usual. Just another level of security, really, since the number is randomly generated each time. A couple of things, though...... keep the Authenticator safe and at hand. If you lose it then you need to buy another and contact Blizzard to then get that one attached to the account. Also, if there should be more than one account in that household, one is all you need. Don't pay for two.

I hope you get this resolved ASAP. I had friend years ago that went through a similar problem, however the "person" that hacked/shared the account deleated all his characters... which Blizzard actually gave them back with most of the items intact. Blizzard does a great job :P GL!
