Showing item stats?

So I feel really stupid asking this but its something I've never actually been able to do, its nothing major, just something I'd like to do. The question is as follows:

If you click on an item linked in chat, you get to see its stats, click on another item shows that items stats. How do you get both (or more) items to show at the same time?

Sorry, but you can't do that. There may be an addon you can get to do it, but I haven't heard of one.

The best you can do is compare it to the item you have equipped in the same slot, by holding the shift key while mousing over the item.

Guess it must be an addodn then, the reason I ask is that I was going through some of the world first kill screenshots and on a lot of them the guilds had all the items they received lined up next to each other showing the stats.

That is either a master looting addon that only shows the loot from a boss you just killed, or (more likely) a photoshop collage.
