I for one didn't get the impression the site was in any kind of decline as a whole (there ARE more incgamers sites than the wow one after all). And with the addition of medievaldragon news posts are better AND more frequent than before (even his speculation posts pre-Blizzcon were very fun to read).
The forum-activity on the other hand... From a pure observational standpoint posting does SEEM to have diminished severely. Linking to wowhead's excellent database (and by extention ANY OTHER site) is merely a matter of efficiency. If one wants to convey the information contained in the link one can simply duplicate it into the post. Whether it be an item's stats, a list of boss types or someone's opinion on some obscure talent.
Duplicating however takes up more work and forum-server resources. The more work and time it takes to post the less I am inclined to actually post at all. It's a naturally obtained, constantly shifting equilibrium.
In the end I am not going to take a hardcut stance on this. I don't like it. But if I find something worthwhile I will duplicate the information and I will probably post less as a whole.

If you actually post less because you can't use the links you want, then that is your problem.

Perhaps if you don't like this site's rules you could just make your own site and attract a decent number of good posters to keep it active and alive. Where you could create your own rules (or lack thereof) and not be forced to comply with rules that you deem unacceptable.

The site is certainly not dieing a slow death, it's doing quite well actually, it may appear that way because of things such as Digger and a few bugs here and there but it all boils down to resources and time to sort things out. This week alone I took time out and fixed up a whole load of bugs on WoWUI, stuff that I have been trying to get to for over a month.
Out of curiosity, what do you mean by "this site". Certainly you can not mean the forum content and activity? I can understand revenue pulled in by the forums since every page now has ad spam all across it. How has the number of pals increased and decreased over the past four years? How about posts per day? I have seen attempts to blogspam on social media sites to increase visitors, how has that venture been? There has been a large increase in the number of news updates over the past few years, which is a great addition to this community, but that can't be the driving force behind how you feel the community (and by community I mean the people) is doing quite well.
Just trying to get an idea of how you put a value on wow.incgamers.com

Take a look over in <----- direction. Check under my name where it says "posts". That might give you an indication on how much I "like" the sight. If you like something, you don't abandon it you try to improve it.
I'm not the type of person that skips out on something the first time it starts to look a little down, or has things going on that I don't like. I'm not a fair weather fan. I'm not sure if the change I'd like to see will ever get made but most likely I'll continue to post here from time to time even if i'm not as active as I once was.
I stated much of the same in an earlier post, if you would have read the entire thread before posting you probably would have noticed this.
pssst rgirty: Since you seem to have had many posts here, you should probably realize that unless a person quotes you, they are not necessarily talking about you. But glad to see Aristarchus and Anaximander have a new contender in their ring.
The number of PALS on the site has never been great, unlike the Diii.Net community which have been fantastic on the PAL front. As for blog spamming, that has not been done by anyone here, we don;t do that , its time consuming and not worth the effort. There's no doubt about it, in the 6 or so years the site has been going traffic will have decreased as more sites came online, we expect that, its the same for any community. The WoW community is VERY different from our other communities, it is definetly more fickle and harder to please. Again that will be down to the nature of the game itself and its massiveness.
There's no doubt that at times I, and the other mods, have been frustrated by the lack of community help/support when keeping the site really fresh on a week in week out basis, but again this is a very different game and very different community.
As I mentioned above we are looking at the 'linkage' issue which will be determined on what we deem is OK and also falls into Blizzard's guidelines, which at times can be very misleading.
