Well, I noticed that as one of my good Shaman friends (As healer and elem) had very good crit (Over 30%) along with decent haste, and obviously pretty good MP/5. I just noticed that the Shaman is pretty burst-y, simply because we have so much crit built into us. 5% Elem (Plus I think something like +4% crit to LB+CL) 5% Enh, then if you'd prefer it instead of Enh, you can go Resto for the 5% Crit.
Edit: Actually made a mistake... Another 5% crit added through Elem talents that happens on crits, lol. So, there, 15% crit through talents easily accessed.

But at endgame, other classes can get that crit just as easily, I thought somebody said earlier? So it doesn't matter?
Not really, as I said, Elem has a lot of BUILT IN crit. Yes, the 5% crit from one of the talents is shared to the whole raid as Elem (Bleh, keep forgetting the name.) but I honestly don't believe any other class has as much crit through talents alone as Elemental does (Again, 15% through talents.)
The issue with ele shaman versus other dps classes for priority and desirability is often a matter of raid utility, and has little to do with the dps itself. Many raids would prefer to bring a resto shaman, get the shaman raid utilities there, and bring mages-locks-etc in as dps + their respective raid utilities. Ele push out some major burst dps, and are fine pvp toons.

Mages : first off, it does not matter how much you have to eat. You will burn trough your mana faster than trough your life, so you will drink more often.
Second : Because of the insane crit chances, frost beats any other spec for leveling. Specialy in the higher levels. Yes, frostfire bolt looks great, but you need the gear to pull it off. Frost is great if you dont have the gear yet.
Balance Druid:
Positives: Above average crit chance, with fairly high crit numbers.
Negatives: Mana issues can occur, not a LOT of gear aimed at them.
Mage:
Frost:
Positives: Above average crit chance, good mana conservation, decent crit numbers, generally requires the lowest gear out of all the specs to be good. Easy rotation.
Negatives: Not the highest crit numbers, not the best spec for raiding.
Fire:
Positives: A little above average crit chance, fairly high crit numbers. Easy rotation.
Negatives: Mana issues can occur.
Frostfire:
Positives: Above average crit chance, fairly high crit numbers. Fairly easy rotation.
Negatives: Mana issues can occur, need good gear to use it.
Arcane:
Positives: Above average crit chance, fairly high crit numbers.
Negatives: Mana issues will occur, need good gear to use it. Most difficult rotation out of the specs.
Destruction Warlock:
Positives: Above average crit chance, fairly high crit numbers, great mana that's nearly endless, fairly easy rotation.
Negatives: Requires decent gear to actually do well.
Elemental Shaman:
Positives: High crit chance, a little above average crit numbers, good mana, fairly easy rotation.
Negatives: Some of the lower crits out of all the casters.
Shadow Priest:
Positives: Good mana, big help to the raid, crit on DoT's occur kind of a lot.
Negatives: Generally has the lowest crit chance of all the casters as it is more like an Affliction Warlock, doesn't have very large crits as it relies mainly on DoT's, one of the harder rotations as it's more clicks to do a rotation compared to other casters.
Destruction Warlock:
Positives: Above average crit chance, fairly high crit numbers, great mana that's nearly endless, fairly easy rotation.
Negatives: Requires decent gear to actually do well.
disagree , i had mostly t5 in BC and i came bout 5th > in DPS before the patch that nerfed everything

Who cares about BC ? There have been dozends of class overhauls since T5. We are at T10 now.
Always keep in mind that the endgame raiding spec is very much flavor of the day, but the leveling specs dont change that much. Also keep in mind that you will be wearing greens and a little bit of blues till you hit 80. You will not have the stats that raiders had during their stay at lvl 60 or 70. My fire mage sure rocked at lvl 70, but that is because of all his BT gear that a new player leveling will never ever see. Without the insane crit and hit and haste ratio from that gear, you are better off not speccing fire.
