There really doesn't seem to be a shortage. I mean, besides the obvious player races, there's naga, various kinds of elves kickin' around, several different races of demons (Eredar, pit lords, succubi, voidwalkers, fel whatevers, doom guards) nerubians, faceless ones, tuskarr, magnataur, mok'nathal, various subraces of trolls, dryads, dragons, dragonkin, gnolls, kobolds, harpies(may or may not be intelligent, but some use magic, so probably they are), mur'locs, giants, pandarens, centaurs, razormanes, furbolgs, and sasquatch. And that's just off the top of my head.
One thing I'd love to see is races of a truly different sizes. Giants are already in the game, but I'd love to see teeny little pixie-type characters too. I've played text-based MUDs where size made a difference in what areas you could reach (such as only little fairies fitting into holes in trees, or giant-sized steps that are just stone walls to human-sized characters) and I don't know of a 3d game that's made similar parallel content. PvP balance and realism would be a huge issue, though.
Heh, Faun, I think he meant a type of race that was never in the Warcraft universe before now.
I don't see why they would add something entirely new like that - it might be interesting to see the variety, but this world has already been established, and most players would rather see Blizzard stick to the storyline.(Including me). However, I will go ahead and brainstorm a little:
Personally I would like to see an ethreal magical race in WoW. Things that would be made up of nothing but magic. They would like a cross between elementals and wisps(except they would be neither - they would be a race of their own). The classes available for them would be Mage, Shaman, Warlock, Druid, and Priest.
As far as the race background goes, they could be a direct manifestation of the Titans, who are trying to save Azeroth. They have recently appeared from within the Maelstrom, where a rift remains. Their starting location and capital city would be on a different world, not on Azeroth or Kalimdor, but in a different ethreal realm. They would be directly opposed to the demons, and nothing else.

Oh. Silly me. I suppose, then, Id like to have some sort of mystical race - like a Medusa or something. That could have special abilities up the wazoo, if only one sex
I'd vote for a different breed of humans or "half-humans" who would side with, and fit in with, the horde. Something along the lines of barbarians.
I just thinks it's a loss that there are no horde characters you could even remotely feel a connection to on the physical level so to speak. All are so god damn ugly, and the UD are dead for crying out. The alliance characters are so much easier to identify with since they all are human-like at least, but then again, they are all sissies.
Conan would side with the horde, and so would Zeb Machahan (he would hang out with the taurens and smoke peace pipes in those big tents of theirs), so what can go wrong?
I'd like to see the frost trolls come back somhehow! "i'll ice'm" Coolest creeps from WC3, and in WoW it would be nice to get a northern continnent in a expansion that's all snow. "stay cool"
