Ideas and suggestions of continents and zones to be added [Revised Version]
This a new version of a topic I posted before. It has another goal this time (see end of topic).
As I first played WoW (I played the US Open Beta), I have made notice about that there are a lot of areas "missing" (not yet added) that I saw in Warcraft III (both Reign of Chaos and the Frozen Throne) but now are absent? (I'm not complaining, I'm just curious.) So, this is my thoughts concerning the areas to be added in WoW.
Continents to be added.
Northrend.
This large area in the north has the official capital called Gundrak. The most of the continent underground will of course be filled out with Azjol'Nerub - a large network of ice caverns and tunnels (remember Diablo II: LOD - that big area with frozen tunnels; Glacial Trail etc). It should also have some sort of town or minor center where the NPC's are Nerubians, accordingly. A lot of exciting quests and monsters to fight.
The mainland (above ground) will have the geography of Northrend (icy coasts/shores, forest and an Undead (not apatic) feeling, like creepy music and sounds of hard winds, e. g.) just as in RoC. In the center of the continent, high above ground, the Frozen Throne will be situated on the Icecrown Glacier. (This glacier mountain will be in center of the island, like something to focus on.) Of course, Arthas should sit on it (I guess his butt is deep frozen, just like his throne! ). There should be two ways to come to the Frozen Throne: one by the tunnels of Azjol'Nerub, and one by climbing on the icy glacier, but I want that way to be extra risky, e. g. Blizzard could add some sort of slip effect, so that you would slip down the glacier, or something like that (you could by special shoes with spikes, to grasp on the ice). Northrend could be either neutral or ... hostile, because Arthas hates both factions (he's opposing the Orcs, High Elves, Humans, Sylvanas' Undead, and I guess that he've never seen Trolls, Dwarves, Gnomes or Night Elves in his life; Illidan is an exception, but we all know that he's an evil guy). On the other hand, it all depends: in the recent history about the Dwarves, Muradin's brother set out for an expedition to Northrend to find out the reason for his brother's death. he could have built a giant camp or something there. that would be an Alliance friendly area. I don't know about the Horde, but maybe they could have captured Gundrak, and made it their own! An another thing: some Nerubians might have left Anub'Arak and Arthas to become neutral NPC's selling goods and services in Azjol'Nerub. It's all up to Blizzard an you, fans!
Undermine.
A continent consisting of two large islands and several smaller ones, situated south of Kalimdor. Known to be a legendary area with a secret cave or something. Will 100% be added to the game.
Naga Empire/Undersea World
What if you could swim to the center of the world and go into the Maelstrom and come to another world (continent) That is, what if Blizzard created a vast underwater continent where you could have extremely fun - a real dream world. It would be awesome! The capital is Nazjatar. There should be no need to hold your breath because the whole Empire will be water free. Two ways to enter: either by the Maelstrom, or the other by swimming way deep into the ocean. I don't know the situation about the Naga, though. Should they've escapen as the Nerubians to become neutral allies as them? I don't know.
Zones to be added
Gilneas.
A peninsula continuing south from Silverpine Forest. I know that this area is blocked and should be opened once finished.
Quel'Thalas
Lies north of the Eastern Plaguelands, plus the island where the Silvermoon well is situated.
Kul'Tiras
With a major city on an island kingdom west of the Eastern Kingdoms. Also belonging to the kingdom are three islands north of the main island: Zul'Dare, Crestfall and Tol Barad, each of them having an outpost/main town.
The Broken Isles.
These isles just gotta be added! I want to walk the sandy shores (with palms and all exotica) where Maiev searched for Illidan with her Watchers! There should naturally be a large quest to be done in the Tomb of Sargeras. Implemented also are the ruins of Suramar. The whole zone should look like Stranglethorn Vale, except for a more and action-filled feeling, like speedy music. And a lot of sand and ecotic beaches (with sexy chicks, if that fits) The "capital" is called Balor.
Emerald Dream
There are already files in the MPQ's, we're just waiting for those auto-kill guards to vanish.
Mount Hyjal
Zone already in-game, just has to be finished constructing and opened up.
Second part of Silithus
Behind the wall, lies new surprises! The first World Event is supposed to happen here. But Blizzard has to open the zone first!
Draenor/Outland
The portal should be functional soon. This area is quite large if you watch maps. Will be cool to fight those deadly Demons.
All these areas are not made up by me. They have always been in the Warcraft world, designed by Chris Metzen.
If Blizzard added these continents and zones, in my opinion, World of Warcraft would be as complete as it never will be!
Feel free to post your ideas and suggestions about new continents and zones. Try to complete with areas not yet mentioned by me. I have an idea of posting a list to Blizzard and get some response. Our suggestions might one day be in the game, who knows?
Wow that is some usefull information I didnt even know blizzard had room for some extra zones :D The World of Warcraft looks alraidy pretty full now and I thought they would only be adding Northerend yet in the expantion.
BTW I hope they add a thirth faction in the expantion that would be very cool. The scourge, Naga, a Burning Legion man, and xx as races and some brand new classes :D. But that would be agains the lore of wow but still cool.
The Emerald Dream is not a zone. You can call it being an alter-demetion you enter through meditation. As you can go every where in the Emerald Dream it is not a zone in it's real mening. But to enter it through meditation you need to find a calm place....
Dreadnor/outlands... Is not that the place the orcs come from? And the orcs are not from this world. They was brought here by the bruning leagion from an other planet.
Emerald Dream: Well, let's say it like this; it's an area, no matter who or how you enter it. There is a reason for why Blizzard added these files in the MPQ's.
Draenor: It would be unfair if the whole Outlands where dominated by the Horde.
A wee technical question. Could they add this somewhere along the line without any interference in the playing or would it need a patch and/or upgrade?
Impressive array of possibilites btw. Not really at home yet in the WoWverse, but I'm all for diversity. Something tells me they'll be busy a while to get things running properly as they should and enabling the infrastructure to the amount of ppl running around. Still, it's always good to look to the future. And I'm looking forward to that future.

Other classes would complain if only druids could enter there though
Seriously that could be cool.. especially if we could meet Ysera in there :xgrin:
the ice crown with two entrances sounds great :D maybe the mainland routye crosses a glacier with a maze of bottemless crevass'es? (lol dont know plural of crevasse) lots of tight walkways with mobs on :)
i think the lich king/arthas should be raid content but not an instance, so there is only 1 lich king in the world at any time... for really large and higl leverl groups. he drops his armour and sword..but there is only one copy in the world at the time. whoever gets frostmane is pretty uber and gets to show off for a few hours b4 they lose the sword (after a few hours or when they die..it cannot leave their posession, so this guy is hunted by the other faction. then when he dies, it is reset and the lich king will drop the sword again?
he emerald dream, apparently its built and it looks beuatiful,
medivh's tower im looking forward to! will probably be the place to go to open the dark portal? but then in the outland where illidan resides there is supposed to be lots of portals that lead to different worlds..i think? mentions about it in the history of warcraft... so they can add lots of content in different worlds.? my rant :)
Thanks, pippauk. Medivh's tower is called Tower of Karazhan and is supposed to be added in the redridge Mountains.
The Lich King could be invisible to people who've already killed him. Or, it might be a quest, where the chance for Arthas to drop Frostmourne would be very small. Dunno.
The Glacier: exactly, it should resemble a glacier in our world, that's true.
