Alchemy - Transmuting Arcanite

I just recently got to 275 Alchemy, and I have transmute Thorium and Arcane Crystal to Arcanite.

Now, i have been asking around forever, and still have not found out the price at which arcanite sells for (by the bar).

I do know however, that Arcane Crystals are rare and sell for 30g at the AH. Thorium can be bought for 7g for 20 bars.

So my question is, would i sell arcanite for over 30g per bar? Are you even able to mine arcanite?

So ya, hopefully i can turn a profit on making Arcanite bars, otherwise the ENTIRE transmuting is a complete waste of time and money.

Thanks

arcanite bars are needed for some of the best blacksmithing work available
i'd wager the bars would go at quite a high price...

you might also get blacksmiths knocking at yer door to transmute them for them: they give you the items, you smack em together in bars and they give yeh a lil' something for your trouble. (most likely this will happen in guilds most of the time)

Yes, you can mine arcanite. It's a rare spawn, like silver/gold/truesilver but it's there ... just hard to find or hard to get to most of the time.

As for how much it sells for ... no one can really tell you because it depends on your server. My server is low pop and NO ONE is selling thorium bars and 20 mith bars go for 5g. So ... just look at the AH and try to sell it as high as possible and see what happens.

Actually ... I'm not 100% sure if you can mine arcanite. I heard you could ... but don't take my word for it :) cuz I'm not that high yet. The reason i think you can is because in some of the other threads people say that arcanite is a rare find.

I think arcanite is the type of thing that spawns in raid level dungeons. So its not something that people can get ahold of easily. The best source for the stuff is your local high level alchemist.

Basically what your going to want to do is find some high level blacksmiths and let them know of your services.

My understanding is that arcanite is only transmuted and never mined.

Yes so far the only way to get arcanite in the game is to transmute it.

BTW - you can get the recipe to transmute arcanite in Gadgetzan along with a couple other transmuting recipes.

Arcanite can not be mined, but arcane crystals are mined. They are very rare drops that occur when mining normal mithril, silver, etc. Arcanite is used in blacksmithing and to create the Arcane Rod for enchanting. The top level enchantments require this rod. This is another point where the professions feed of each other. Alchemy needs blacksmithing for the raw materials to create arcanite bars. Blacksmithing/Enchanting need alchemy to provide them the raw materials which are arcanite bars.

As a suggestion for price, put it in AH as a buy out at double what arcane crystals are going for. If it sells, increase the price of the next one. Keep increasing until it doesn sell, then step back down. The economy of most servers is just now starting to age, so strike now before 1/5 of the server can transmute.
