Question Can't train for alchemy ... ?

I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong (or not doing), but I've visited two different alchemy trainers in Darnassus now, and neither of them gives me the option to train. I'm a level 7 Night Elf Druid, am already training in herbalism as my primary, and thought I'd add alchemy. As I was in Darnassus (not my starting town), I asked a sentinel for the nearest alchemy trainer, went to find that trainer, clicked for interaction, and there was no listing of training (any sort of training at all) in the conversation box, and the "train" button was shadowed out. So, thinking perhaps I'm at the wrong sort of alchemy trainer (IS there such a thing?) I went to a different sentinel in a different part of Darnassus, he directed me to talk to a Master alchemy trainer, so I went to her, and the same thing happened.

Can anyone suggest why? Can I only train in apprentice alchemy at my starting town, is that it? I know I'm the right level, I believe you have to be at least level 5 so no problem there. I have plenty of money, so it's not that. I don't understand this!

Grateful for any suggestions ...

cheers

There are different levels of trainer, that have skills and training levels that follow on from each other.

You need to find the lowest level one (cant recall what it's name is, i think Journeyman) and they shlould be able to teach you. The Master is for later on, and will have a "teach me" button once your skill has increased.

And the closest journeyman alchemy trainer to Darnassus is in Dolanaar....a bit east...closer to the starting-point of the Night Elves...

yes. each level of trainer only trains you to one lvl below what they are:
journeyman trainer trains you to apprentice
expert trainer trains you to journeyman
artisan trainer trains you to expert
master trainer trains you to artisan

thanks ... I left Dolanaar for Darnassus a couple of days ago, having been sent to Darnassus on a quest. Guess I'll just turn around and go back!

thanks

I had the same problem today - good info, thanks. I'm not sure why they've structured it like this though - it's so frustrating!

Oh, well, looks like yet another trek back over to Dolanaar tonight ;)
