Alchemy Question - and Transmuting

First up made my stone the other day, is it worthwhile transmuting metals and the like?

If so which recipe should I buy?

I was looking at iron - gold - could you make money off this (24 hour cooldown) if you bought say copper at AH then changed to gold and vendored it?

Any general info on transmuting greatly appreciated :)

The Throium recipe to Arc looks very useful...

When I got my stone, I got the mithril to truesilver transmute, bought a stack of 20 mithril from the AH and started cranking out truesilver bars, selling them one by one as I got them and getting twice the price per unit compared to what I paid for the mithril. Not much of an income in itself, and it'll be a while before I even break even, but at least I'm getting my alchemy skill up without spending difficult to harvest herbs on less than desirable potions (like "detect undead"? come on).

very true, thanx for the info, wonder about the arcanite ones though? wonder if you could profit from that.

Wish the cooldown wasnt so long....

Detect undead, such a waste who would use this when you can just detect them with your own eyes anyway.....

would be cool if you could use it to find undead rogues now that would be nice =P

On my realm I can't sell 20xTruesilver Bars (4g). Mithril is more expensive.
IMO all transmuting except Arcanite is a waste of time/cooldown. It's normal to take charge of 5g for transmuting Arcanite here... 5g/48h - not much but always better that Iron->Gold or Mithril -> Truesilver...

Thanks for the info :)

will buy that arcanite recipe - just wanted to make sure it would pay for itself, its 20g so it would pay for itself in just under 2 weeks.
