A request for honest-to-goodness Honor info.

Please bump the heck out of the below. A lot of people are up in arms over what they think their rank should be when they've been given minimal amounts of information in small, detached snippets. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of some of the honor mysteries and players can establish some reasonable PvP goals.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...=new&tmp=1#new

"There's no way that Blizzard intended for this much confusion about contribution, honor, and rank.

When we look at our Honor panel, the new "Honor" statistic represents what? Is it the contribution from the honorable kills for the time period denoted, or is it the honor points as a percentage of the time period's honor pool? Is it fair to assume that "Yesterday's Honor" has had diminishing returns calculated on it, or is that not done until Tuesday? If it is indeed Honor, does that mean that there is a daily honor pool, or is it just an estimate of what is believed to be one day's allocation of the entire week's pool?

Since rank is determined by honor as of the implementation of the system, and total honor earned MUST be known to establish rank, why can't we see total lifetime honor and current, overall standing in the Honor panel? Having been #1 this week means exactly jack crap if I'm #2,500 all-time on the server.

According to PvP FAQ's and articles, the honor we receive is a percentage of a constant pool total. If "strategic objectives" are attained, particularly Alterac wins and faction leaders killed, does this pool in fact increase? If so, does the honor necessary to achieve a new stratum of rank increase as well?

Why must the minimum number of kills/CP's/honor to reach a particular rank be so shrouded in mystery? Would it be possible to publish the minimum peramaters necessary to achieve each rank? I'm fine with forcing ranks 10-14 to require a colossal effort, regardless of what individual standing is, but could we get an idea of what will be required to at least have a shot?

Based on these questions and what I believe the answers to be, please confirm or correct the following:

* Random server with an active PvP population of 2,500.
* Total Honor pool is 1,000,000 for the week.
* Player's faction achieves 10,000,000 Contribution Points for the week.
* Player achieves 10,000 CP's.
* The highest rank on the server is 10.
* PvP-active ranks have the following distribution:
Top rank (10): 0.5%, (9): 1.5%, (8): 3.0%, (7): 5%, (6): 7.5%, (5): 10%, (4): 12.5%, (3): 15%, (2): 20%, (1): 25%.

Based on the above assumptions, Player was responsible for 0.1% of the faction's CP's and is awarded 0.1% of the pool - 1,000 honor. This plus his past Honor totals make a grand total of 5,000 honor points which puts him at overall standing #1,500 on the server. Out of 2,500, that standing lands him in the 60th percentile, and thus rank 2. If the addition of next week's honor can get him up above the 55th percentile, he'll reach rank 3.

* The above distribution is 100% speculation and is one of the things I'm asking for confirmation of. Assuming that both factions on every server has at least 1 rank 10, that should only require 5 different distributions to show how everything looks under every contingency.

Now, let's say Player's faction wins 3 Alterac battles and kills one faction leader. Does the pool go up? If so, by how much? Does that pool vary based on current PvP activity, time since PvP system implementation, server population, or any other factor?

Is it possible to tell us how much contribution is received from a kill? Since this is the only thing that we can use to gauge contribution at the moment of the kill, having an accurate count would be very beneficial. As I understand it, this functionality is supposed to be in game, but I'll be darned if I can find out the contribution I'm earning from my HK's.

Thank you in advance for any bumps, replies, or blue responses."

To be honest I have never seen more pointless whining about any feature in any game than the cries about the honour system. The irony of it being that by everyone trying so hard to gain rank they make it harder for everyone to gain rank :)

I'm having a blast casually pvp-ing, hoping to stabilise around rank 3-4. Of course, depending on if the entire realm population doesn't all try to get to 14. They will probably be pissed and you could theoretically even see a mere 10cp difference between rank 8 and 14 or so ;)

What's not to understand about the system anyway? I feel bad as it is saying something about the topic :D
