To the PVP players...

I just re-signed (as in signed up again) up after a while out and decided to go gank at Tyr's Hand, this quite obviously started a faction war (PvP sever), ended up at ~15v15... i don't think i've ever had so much fun playing WoW. Same kind of thing i had back in the day at Tanaris, Un'goro, Tarren Mill etc.

When will they ever make a server with pure outdoor PvP action? Battlegrounds is so **** if you ask me. I mean MC/BWL is as boring as watching paint dry and (no offense to the PvE players) all the "new" instances are gonna be boring after a few runs too. Anyway, this is the controversial bit:

Battlegrounds are ****ING boring.

It's all about outdoor PvP.

Anyone agree or am i dreaming?

If the expansion area "Outland" brings this feelin back, fair play Blizzard, you got me for a few more months.

I agree, and they are working on things to revitalize outdoor "open" PvP, and for me that's nifty. Caydiem announced that they're taking one of the fan suggestions and trying it out by giving out objectives in contested territories. I don't think it'll be as dynamic as Alterac Valley but it'll give outdoorsmen some things to fight over.

They still regularly do outdoor PvP on some servers, namely the younger ones.

there is a ton of pvp servers where beyond the starting 2 zones/race everythign else is considered "contested territory" where you are automaticaly pvp enabled.. unless you mean something else

Agreed. Outdoor pvp is real fun. I wish they'd just put some sort of Deathmatch BG in.

I actually like BGs though and mainly because of the objectives they hold. I love objective based game types. Working as a team is very fun and fulfilling.

Outdoor PvP is fun when it's not 100% of the time like Hillsbrad was. Those levels I spent there were the worst ever... I was ganked all the time.

Outdoor PvP is the most fun you can have in this game. BGs are a good rush too but they dont compare. I joined the RP-PvP servers when they started. We were having a tribe meeting followed by a ritual, then marched in formation to the crossroads. Once we got here we heard the night elves had been attacking. We decided to charge to the lands of Ashenvale. On the way we saw some trolls walking slowly north, that we had been previously having a rather heated debate with, they belonged to a Guild known as The 2nd Gurubashi Empire. As we ran through their ranks expecting to be greeted unkindly they began to spped up and stay alongside us, we must of been at least 100 strong. That night we put our differences aside and worked together to beat the alliance! We eventually reached a spooky place called darkshore and travelled along the paths, it seemed strangely quiet. As we neared Auberdine Hundreds of night elves lining the paths revealed themselves, they had been shadowmelded and watching us the whole time! We were surronded. We fought valiantly but were eventually separated and had to retreat.

I can honestly say i have never had more fun in any computer game, it was so atmospheric and was like a staged action of a computer programmer when they simultaneously un-shadowmelded right near us. There were posts on the realm forums alreay about how fun it was :) Also the server was very new so the max levels were like 30.

I hope more outdoor PvP can be encouraged, perhaps being able to take over a town such as the crossroads by holding a flag/banner in the centre for long enough, bringing much honour to your raid team. Lowbies should still be able to turn in quests though.
