Honor System Suggestion (Killing lower level players)

Right now, if a level 60 kills a level 25, the level 60 doesn't get much. But it's still pretty unfair.

A lot of people think the way to solve this is to make that dishonorable kill. Well there is a problem with that:
Dishonorable kills send a TON of honor right down the toliet and it takes a TON of HKs to get it back. In a PvP raid, one mage could lay down a well placed Arcane explosion and then everysingle person in that raid/group looses a ton of honor.
If lower level kills where DKs, then you would get parties of mid level players going around and griefing the 60s without too much fear because they know the level 60 would only attack if he wanted to loose a whole ton of Honor. This is called griefing. So that's a problem.

Here is what I am suggesting:
Rather then getting DK when you kill a lower level player, you LOOSE HKs for the week depending on that person's level but you can't go under zero. So say you got 100 HKs for the week. And through your ganking you lost 6. You only get 94 for that week instead of 100.

HKs don't work like that, they're just a counter. 1HK from killing a lvl 59 knight > 1HK from killing a lvl 60 seargeant for example. Here is actualy a very good article on how it all works:

Re:

Why why why do people always start new posts about this? There has got to be about 10 of these posts here already. What is the purpose of a new one? Just scroll down a bit in the PvP section, and you will see them. Promise. And to respond to your post, WHO CARES? Why is it always about "this 60 should get concequences for killin that 25." Blah blah blah. If you play on a PvP server, DEAL WITH IT. It's war. It's a game. People will be people. Human nature is human nature. The little 14 year old who gets picked on in school comes home and picks on people in WoW. It's NEVER going to change. If you are on a PvE server, DON'T FLAG.

If you are flagged around a 60, you are probably going to take a dirt nap. Tough luck. Don't do it. I'm so sick and tired of reading on the forums about the people who have been "ganked" and "griefed". WARCRAFT. Fighting IS INVOLVED. If your feelings get hurt when your little avatar gets beat down, go play the Sims or something. This isn't LEET or UBER talking here. I have a 49 character. I get tore up all the time. I enjoy it. It's why I play the game. If I see a lowbie flagged, I may or may not wipe the floor with them. Depends on how I feel.

Bottom line is whine, *****, and complain about it all you want. Blizz is NOT going to dumb down PvP combat, just because some people's virtual feelings got all hurted. But, go do it on a thread that's already been started. Sick and tired of seeing wasted Forum space.

P.S. Pity the kids who corpse camp, and brag, and gank. They are probably dealing with a lot of RL griefing and bullying that we don't know about. I wish WoW had been around in '99. Maybe Eric and Dylan coulda taken their RL anger out on some good old PvP, instead of the horrible thing that they did. RIP

...I picture Jack Thompson reading this post, rubbing his hands together, and cackling with glee that someone has been so kind as to step -right- into his arena; heartstring-yanking barely-tied-together concepts to justify one's own behavior. Leave the demagoguery and guesswork to the guys in suits, kid; they get paid to amuse us with their ranting, you don't.

[yada]
You get absolutely bugger all. A lvl 60 gets something from a lvl 48 at absolute lowest.

When you come with such bold statements, at least get them right.

Furthermore, try and come up with 'fixes' (and I use this in the broadest possible sense of the world) that don't have at least 5 different ways to exploit them.

I could point out several flaws in your 'fix' here, but frankly, with the overabundance of threads of this ilk, I can't be bothered.

Millions of people play games, millions of people have problems. These two you mention stood out for how they dealt with these problems.

I personally pity their victims and not them. They dont even deserve a mention, especially in forums like this one.

I am in agreement with you. I play flagged on a PvE server. On occasion lowbies will make the mistake of attacking. If they make that mistake, they pay...bottom line. It is akin to:

Shark vs. Goldfish

If the goldfish is stupid enough to cross the shark's path, that goldfish will be eaten. It will be the goldfish's fault that this happened. The shark will not get much from the goldfish as it is very small.

However, if the goldfish stays away from something it recognizes as certain death, the shark will not bother the goldfish. The goldfish will live, and nobody will cry.

Hehe...sometimes it does. One thing I noticed while playing on a PvP server is that you spend more time leveling in YOUR territory before branching out to contested zones. For example...as I was growing, I spent more time in Silverpine forest before venturing out into Hillsbrad.

It is funny though...I think my example is more applicable on a PvE server where the goldfish (lowbies) attack a flagged shark (high level character). In this regard, staying away will certainly help.

In PvP, if a shark wants to eat you...he is going to. Sharks can smell blood from a great distance...and can sense the electrical impulses associated with FEAR.

ROFL

haha

a very good analogy that one.

Its great the feeling you get when you see a Shark, quietly soil your pants....and just when you think they havent seen you Boggo Waves at you......and then Boggo mourns your death

:/
