Black Screen Crashes. Tips or Solutions?

Hello all,

I have recently run into this problem with black screen crashes in WoW. This is a new development for me and it happens at random times in the game, but mostly at login. Today for example is the first time it started and it was after I had been playing for about 4+ hrs. I log out after I died in the Wetlands to eat dinner, then when I attempt to log back in I get the black screen crash over and over again. I tried all the tips I could find on the WoW support site (moving back to an older driver, deleting the WDB, WTF, and Interface folders, changing resolution/refresh rate, etc.) but to no avail. I even went to get the latest drivers from Nvidia's site to see if that could fix the problem but nothing works. Sometimes it lets me log in and select a character, other times it goes black just after clicking the icon to start the game and all I get is a glimpse of the login screen. I just have to reboot the system cause nothing I have tried will get me out of the black screen crash. All other apps work normally. Internet, email, winamp, other games like Sacred, Halflife 2, and Doom 3.

Anyone have a similar problem or any ideas?

peace,
J

I have a guy in my guild who had the same problem and he solved it. When I get back home (am Currently at work) I will send him a e-mail asking him how he solved it, but hopefully some of our visitors may have an answer before that.

yeh..I have the same problem...started last night..I was in Winterspring on horseback..when all of a sudden my screen went black and the sound started to go looping. So I had to reboot ..and after that every time I started WoW I could (if I was fast enough) type a few letters of my password and then my screen went black again..and I need to reboot again..

I've tried to re-install WoW..no avail
My windows iz a fresh install...so I dont see any problems there..
Graphic drivers and DX are up to date..

I really dont have a clue what the problem iz..

Can any1 help...:O

Unhappy

Hi, i'm new to this site and WoW. I bought the game a couple of days ago and so far have been unable to play properly :S I get to play for anything between 1 min and 30 mins before the computer restarts or goes to a black screen i can't get out of. I've tryed everything i can think of and even took it to a friend who's very knowledgable when it comes to computers and he couldn't fix it. Could it be i'm with Aol? Something about them blocking certain ports? Or could it be anything to do with the fact i'm geting an upgraded connection and it's unstable? We came to thatconclusion yesterday, but we're not the only one experiencing this which makes me think it is something different.

Please help if you can i really want to get playing the game!

I have same problem, just got it yesterday when i upgraded my pc. other people on forums reckon its the 7 series + nividia graphic cards that are involved.
i have a nividia G-force 8400 graph card, every other game on my pc works. plz, if any1 knows any1 who has had this problem and fixed it, plz post here.
im seriously addicted to WoW and its driving me crazy not being able to play lol.
And, the black screen crash is so bad for me, that by the time im typing in my login, it crashes, before ive even connected to anything, it just crashes when im still in login.
