Battlegrounds at 59

I wanted to run this by you guys to see what you think.

I feel that level 59 is the best point to rack up honor points and rank. You're at the highest level you can get in most Battlegrounds you're in (Gulch, Basin), and outclass the majority of those you fight. Personally, I'm 1/3rd of the way to 60, and while I could get 60 overnight, I've decided to stay put for now and reap the benefits of my position, until I obtain at least Knight.

Does anyone know a good reason not to do this, other than the burning desire to finally be a 60 (my first)? For instance, is there some limiter at 59 that keeps you from obtaining rank as easily as at 60?

Also, I'm considering trying to put together a group (not a guild, just a regular group) of players on Argent Dawn, all in their 50's, to PvP with. I'm doing this because I don't want to leave my current guild, and I haven't run into any heavily pvp oriented guilds I like. Pickup Groups just aren't working for me. I'd like to be in an organized group of people out to improve their pvp game, as well as have fun trying to achieve fleeting fame on our server. Since I can't find a group like that, I might try to make one.

But first... is my reasoning on this flawed?

I have a (rough-draft) website devoted to the subject at http://shock.cnaut.com. I'm not recruiting for it yet, but I'm getting ready to and am looking for opinions.

I never like the 50-59 BG's on my server becuase nothing but AV ran all the time. Its better to just get to 60, more honor per kill, and alot more games to play. There is just way more BG stuff going on at lvl 60. And its not to bad that your all the same level, you dont have to depend on killing guys 9 level below you. Just hit 60, get the huge boosts and the final talents, and keep moving on.

All in All, 60 BG's are alot better. Faster in my opinion to, becuase you have alot more heavily skilled players there. Youll get more honor in one night of 60 BG's than you will in any other range.

What you're saying seems to make sense to me. My understanding (since I'm not 60 either) is that a newly minted 60 is equal to the lvl 50-52s that you see in your current bracket. Sure, you can kill stuff. However, you'll likely be heavily outgunned. I've got a better chance of killing a moose bare-handed than the 60s who pvp on my server. My plan is to wait until I've got at least a little high end gear before I start 60s pvp.

As for getting a group to pvp with alot, that's a great idea. A little cohesion, teamwork, and ventrilo or TS will go a long way to making the matches faster and easier. Faster and easier mean that much more rep/hks per hour.

Just my 2c.

Nice try, but on my server you can basically forget about 50-59 AB and most definitely about WSG.

It's gotten so bad that people even have to make an appointment with the other faction on the server forum...

Only thing running where 51-59 can participate as well is Alterac Valley.

Meh.. 75:25 alliance to horde ratio means that I find it soo hard to get into 60 battlegrounds. I did 8 hours of pvp (well waiting in queues as well) for 4 days a week, and got 68k honor throughout the whole week. That's around 17k honor a day. On my previous server I could max 85k in 12 hours.

Transfer servers ftw... and the horde on my previous server are whining there are no alliance :D

Its really server dependant. On my server, the 40-49 BGs are real active, so I'm sitting at 48 (and moving toward 49 with just mark turn-ins). However, there is never a 50-59 game. A level 55 guy in my guild always says "I've been in queue for X hours for warsong/AB.." Atleast he can do AV...

If 50-59 runs on your server, by all means own it up...

meh... the 51-59 will have much lower ranks than the lvl 60s one. Might as well just get to 60 for the cheer, and then paly bgs. Also more fun in the BGs when everyones the same lvl

50-59 runs on our server almost all the time. This is due to most of the 50-59 not wanting to play in AV. There are tier 1/2 epiced out Horde/Alliance in there, and it's really no fun for them. I remember playing in 50-59. Myself and a friend tried to "twink" ourselves out with as much end-game gear as we could, before we hit 60. I was at lvl 59 with almost full Shadowcraft/Devilsaur/DPS gear, and had the Dal Rend's set enchanted with +15agil. I say go for it, OP. It's your last chance to "jack up" some lowbies in the BGs. Used to love seeing the little lvl 50-51s run away when they saw me.

There is more honor on the 60 Battlegrounds, but when you've just become a 60 and haven't done at least your two hundredth dungeon crawl, you tend to be little more than cannon fodder for a while. Also, it's nice to dominate the field, at least in your personal space and when not ganged up on (and they DO gang up on me specifically).

As for the 50-59's, I wish they were more active, but they're not too dead on my server. The problem is I'm constantly up against organized groups, and the best I can round up are pickup groups. I don't believe any BG I've been in has ever been won by the Alliance. Most players involved in pvp have no interest in strategy or winning, only kills (which isn't that bright, but their loss).

I'm half considering moving to 60, simply to try to find a BG guild to join, but before I make that leap (which I can't take back)... maybe I can find some Argent Dawn folks in their 50's who'd like to see what an organized group can do. I'd really rather stay at 59 and rake in rank (up until I have to hit 60 to go farther) - but there's no point if PuGs are the only future I have.
