Perhaps another class is better overall at melting faces, but I'm asking you to compare a full shadow priest and full destruction warlock, which one is more likely to melt your face?
The reason I ask is that I already have a lvl 60 Lock specced into destruction. I love her, and I love DPS.
For varieties sake I'm rolling a priest. I'm lucky that my guild is well stocked with resto-druids, so endgame with my priest I will be allowed to run instances as full-shadow DPS (basically subbing in my shadow priest for my lock's old position.)
I hear people talk about how much priests melt faces, so I'm wondering: In PVE and PVP, which melts faces more - Shadow Priest or Destro Warlock?
My warlock has conflagrate, shadowburn, and death coil all available to do instant direct damage. I can cast a 1.5 second immolate and then instantly cast the trifecta above for ~3000 dmg non-crit in about 3 seconds. But when I look at the priest talent tree, nothing stands out as a huge source of burst damage. I'm sure Mind Flay is nice, but what else can a shadow priest do for high DPS?
Technically, only priests can melt faces. But, a shadow priest's damage isnt burst damage. It is sustained damage. But you will soon find that as a priest.....
I see my girls priest reguarly getting 1000+ crits with her Mind Blast / Mind Flay spell at lvl 58. Then we can't forget that she has Shadow Word:Pain, Devouring Plague (forsaken only) and Vampiric Embrace all going at the same time. The Vampiric Embrace has even critted healed her for 200+ during fights. It's a scary sight to behold what she can do with her Shadow Priest.
She also hates duelling. But I guided her through a duel against a 60, purple equipped rogue and she laughed at the simplicity of it. Started the duel by popping up a shield, whacking on Shadow Word:Pain, Devouring Plague and then Vampiric Embrace. Shield dropped. Feared the guy. As he was trinketting , get a Mind Flay in there, guy is already down to half health and it's ticking down fast. Bash shield until it popped up again. A quick flash heal and renew and then cast that Channeled blue spell that she has that slows the movement down. One more time with that channeled spell and a quick smite and the guy drops. She was still at full health and had half a mana bar left.
Face melter? She took down that rogue faster than I could've done with my warlock. But my warlock likes rogues. Especially gnome rogues. More squishier than warriors and tend to drop fast enough for my liking. Taste a bit funny but Metatron can live with that. Now Druids.... I have such a fear of Druids... They own me hard.....
Well not to get off-topic but I think I'm allowed to take my own thread off topic.
Against druids your best shot is have any spec with MD and use your felhunter. You can either leave spell lock on auto-cast or do it manually and wait until you know their going to try and heal. Then spell lock their heal and Death Coil / Shadowbolt / Shadowburn for the kill. Be sure to toss on all the DoTs you can because it's hard to CC a druid and if you start winning they will probably run away.
Last time I had a duel against a druid I took out me faithful succy for the MD bonus and because I had / have no clue on how to use the Fel Hunter at all. I have been practising and making slow (being the objective word here :P) progress with learning that pig dogs style. Druids, when played while, are awesome opponents to go up against. Moon Fire spamming noobs I can take down quick enough. It's all that shapeshifting, healing, dps'ing, tanking, bear shaped thing that confuses me. One minute I'm shooting shadow bolts down the throat of a tiger, to suddenly having searing pains singing the hair of some big bear. But it's when they go into Cow Shape I get my blood up! I just can't stand the overgrown, hippy gits and love to murder overgrown cows whenever the oppurtunity arrives!
Haha! Reminds of the favourite quest chain I have done yet. Was an Apothecarium quest that culminated in some cow drinking a poison and dying at the feet of the apothecarist! Haha! Laughed so hard when I saw her keel over die and realised the true evil nature that lays beneath the surface in the hearts of all the Forsaken!

Metatron sees a psychologist on Tuesday and Thursday of every week. No need to be nervous around him, folks. Move along...
